Charleston names new fire chief

CHARLESTON, W.V.a. (AP) — A long-time veteran of the Charleston Fire Department has been named as its new leader, officials said Wednesday.

Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin named Jeffery Jackson as the new fire chief in a news release.

Jackson joined the Charleston Fire Department in 1994 and was most recently its administrative chief. He said it’s an honor to take over the department.

A promotion ceremony will be held at a later date due to the coronavirus pandemic.
