The speed of Comcast's Blast! Internet service will increase from 105 Mbs to 200 Mbps and speeds of 100 Mbps are available in a new Performance Pro Internet tier. The upgrade also makes the Steubenville system capable of providing 1 gigabit-per-second service in the future.
The Steubenville system includes the city of Steubenville, Cross Creek Township, Island Creek Township, Salem Township, Steubenville Township, Wells Township, Mingo Junction, New Alexandria, Wintersville, Richmond, Wayne Township, Follansbee, Wellsburg and most of Brooke County.
"We are proud to continue investing in our network to bring our customers in the Steubenville area more choice and more speed," said Christine Whitaker, Keystone Region senior vice president. "Combined with our outdoor WiFi investments in the Steubenville area, the recent launches of Xfinity Mobile and Xfinity xFi, and our partnerships with Netflix, Pandora and You Tube on our X1 platform, we're continuing to add significant value for customers across our product portfolio."
Outside the home, Xfinity Internet customers have complimentary access to nearly 18 million Wi-Fi hotspots nationwide, including 34 hotspots in the Steubenville area along Sunset Boulevard near shopping destinations and restaurants; at Hollywood City Center; near restaurants on University Boulevard and Adams Street; at Rotary Park; adjacent to grocery and auto parts stores on North Seventh Street and near Steubenville High School.
Hotspots in Wintersville include areas near shopping and restaurant destinations on Frank P. Layman Boulevard and near a hair salon on Warren Lane.
