Free movie night Sept. 16
at East Springfield center
EAST SPRINGFIELD -- A free movie night featuring "Miracles from Heaven," starring Jennifer Garner, will be shown at the East Springfield Community Center beginning at 6 p.m.
There will be free light refreshments, and attendees who register will be eligible for door prizes.
The 2016 movie, which is based on a true story, co-stars Queen Latifah.
The movie showing is a joint outreach effort involving the Richmond United Methodist Church, East Springfield Christ UMC and East Springfield Church of the Cross.
The community center is located on county Road 39 next to the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Men's musical workshop
at Second Baptist Church
STEUBENVILLE -- The Brotherhood of Second Baptist Church is sponsoring a men's musical workshop beginning at 10 a.m. today at the church located at 717 Adams St.
It will be followed up with a concert open to the public on Sunday, beginning at 4 p.m.
Rayland church to host
annual vehicle show Sunday
RAYLAND -- Meadowbrook Church of God, located at 10152 state Route 150, Rayland, will host its 11th-annual car, truck, bike and antique equipment show Sunday.
Registration will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with trophies and awards presented at a 4 p.m. ceremony. There is a $5 entry fee. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 75 entrants. There will be food and live music by Beacon Road. For information, contact the church at (740) 859-6511.

to mark anniversary Sunday
WEIRTON -- The ushers of Morning Star Baptist Church, 3124 Weir Ave., Weirton, pastored by the Rev. Willie L. Nevels, will celebrate their anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Mount Olive Baptist Church of Weirton will be the guests. Music will be provided by the Voices of Praise from Macedonia Baptist Church in Wheeling, pastored by the Rev. Rudy McAllister.
Youth ministries to host
quarter auction Sept. 16
WELLSBURG -- St. John's Youth Ministries of Wellsburg will host a quarter auction on Sept. 16 at the Wellsburg Moose, located at 844 Main St., Wellsburg.
Admission is $5, which includes one paddle. Additional paddles will be available for $1.
Doors open at noon, and the auction starts at 1 p.m.
The event will feature more than 20 vendors and crafters, and concessions also will be available.

TORONTO -- The Rev. Robert Harris will celebrate his 21st pastoral anniversary Sunday at the First Baptist Church, 900 Pierce Ave., Toronto.
Services will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Rolland Owens as guest speaker. Dinner will be served at 2 p.m. until the time of the service. All are welcome to attend.
Rosemont Chapel planning
spaghetti dinner Sept. 16
STEUBENVILLE -- Rosemont Chapel, located at the corner of Goulds Road and Williams Boulevard, will host a spaghetti dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 16.
The menu will include spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and a drink. The dinner cost is $6 for adults and $3.50 for children younger than 12. Patrons can dine in or get take-out.
Church Women United
executive board meets
WEIRTON -- The executive board of Church Women United met Sept. 1 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with St. Peter's A.M.E. Church.
Co-hosts were Carol Village, Olivia Carter and Joyce Summers. There were 25 members attending.
President Cathy Cooper extended the welcome and introduced Pastor Phil Van Dam, host pastor, who gave the blessing. Cooper gave a reading titled "Living in Dependence."
Maggie Clark reported sending 14 sunshine cards over a three-month period. Jo Ann Morrison gave the treasurer's report. Choir Director Mary Ellen Groves announced the choir would meet at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 3.
Diane Pastoric, citizen action, reported the November project would be snacks for the Dunbar Recreation Center afterschool program.
Eleanor Cline, hospitality, thanked the church for hosting the September meeting. The Oct. 6 board meeting will get under way at 10 a.m. at the Oakland Presbyterian Church, Wylie Ridge Road, Weirton.
Reports also were given by Elaine Flati, telephone; Nancy Sanders, summer luncheons; and Tish Turner, U.N.I.C.E.F. boxes. A donation was sent to Labor of Love in New York.
Kids 4 Christ after-school
program kicks off Tuesday
RICHMOND -- Kids 4 Christ, an after-school faith-building program and ministry for children in kindergarten through grade three, will be held at the Richmond United Methodist Church, 112 S. Sugar St., Richmond.
The fall session kicks off Tuesday at 5 p.m. and continues each Tuesday through Nov. 14, following the Edison Local school calendar. If school is canceled or dismissed early, for example, there will be no Kids 4 Christ session that day.
Kids 4 Christ runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and includes meal time, worship and music, homework help, learning and crafts.
Registration must be made prior to Tuesday for school bus drop-off.

STEUBENVILLE -- A chicken and biscuit dinner will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. today at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church, 3419 state Route 213. The cost is $10 per adult, with the cost for children ages 7-10 being $7. Children ages 1-6 eat for free.
Youth Rally in the Valley
under way today in Follansbee
FOLLANSBEE -- The 2017 Youth Rally in the Valley gets under way today at 11 a.m. and continues until sunset at 833 Archer Hill Road.
The free event, sponsored by the Follansbee Church of Christ, is geared toward middle and high school students, but everyone may attend.
The headliner entertainment will be Zack Shelton and 64 to Grayson. Chris Mowery will speak about Rachel's Challenge. Events will include cornhole, volleyball, live entertainment, cash concessions and a sunset bonfire.
Women of Wisdom Cafe
Conference on Friday
WEIRTON -- The Women of Wisdom Cafe Conference 2017 will be held Friday at the Millsop Community Center in Weirton.
The theme is "I'm Expensive; There's a Kingdom Living Within Me!" (Judges 4:8-9). Doors will open at 6 p.m. Pastor Ruth Ella Williams-Winfield, founder and executive director of the Women of Wisdom Cafe, is a native of Weirton who resides in Greensboro, N.C. The event will include vendors and praise dancers. There is no registration or fee to attend. A free will offering will be taken to offset expenses. Gospel musician coming
to LaBelle View Church
STEUBENVILLE -- LaBelle View Church of Christ, 301 Ohio St., Steubenville, will host gospel musician Thomas Shelton in concert on Sept. 20, beginning at 6 p.m.
Shelton's music ministry has spanned 38 years, as the Indiana native was inducted in Who’s Who in American Music and toured with General Delivery USA. He also traveled as the lead singer for the Gospelites of Dobbins, Calif., and with the Watchmen of Operation Evangelize.
He and his wife, Shannon, spent two years in the Caribbean and in South America as cruise directors for New Creation World Wide Christian Cruises. He has served in four congregations in the development of music and youth programs, and his ministry has taken him to all 50 states and 11 countries.
