Summer Food Service Program
scheduled to begin Monday
STEUBENVILLE -- Urban Mission Ministries will be serving as a third-year sponsor for the Ohio Department of Education, USDA Summer Food Service Program, which begins Monday and continues through Aug. 17.
Urban Mission will host six sites -- five of them in Steubenville and one open site in Wintersville, according to Cynthia Lytle, summer food program director, Urban Mission Ministries.
Free lunches will be served each day on a first-come, first-served basis, followed by activities for participating children, at the following sites:
— Earl Rogers Plaza, 482 S. Fifth St., Steubenville, 12:40 p.m. to 1:40 p.m.
— Jim Wood Park, John Scott Highway Connector, Steubenville, noon to 1 p.m.
— Martin Luther King Jr. Center, 905 Market St., Steubenville, 12:25 p.m. to 1:25 p.m.
— Murphy's Field, 1700 Plum St., Steubenville, 12:55 p.m. to 1:55 p.m.
— North End Park, North Seventh Street, Steubenville, 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
— Ridgewood Place Apartments, 601 Two Ridges Road, Wintersville, noon to 1 p.m.
All lunches will be prepared by Edison Local School District Food Services and transported to summer feeding sites by Urban Mission Ministries. Transportation is made possible through Hertz & Thrifty Car Rental of Steubenville, according to Lytle, with startup funding for the summer food program provided by the John C. Williams Charitable Trust and the Children's Hunger Alliance of Ohio.

Four Seasons Seniors hear
reports, awarded prizes
WEIRTON -- The Four Seasons Seniors held their May meeting at Undo's with President Chris Sklenar presiding.
Tony LaRosa gave the opening and closing prayers.
After dinner, members were entertained by Tom Graham, who performed a variety of songs.
Committee reports were read and birthday and anniversaries acknowledged.
Mike Rowland won the 50-50 drawing. Other prize winners were Joann Magnone, Tom Maxwell, Norma Yoho, Barb Libengood and Tony Beltram.
The next meeting will be held June 20.
Family Connections plans
steak fry for June 15
WELLSBURG -- The Family Connections Inc. Auxiliary Committee will hold a steak fry on June 15 at Brooke Hills Park in the Cardinal Shelter.
It will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $25 each or two for $40. The dinner will include steak, baked potato, salad, dessert and a drink. Beverages will be provided.
There also will be 50/50 drawings and other drawings. The event helps Family Connections as it endeavors to support the local residential home, Brooke Place, according to a news release.

Family Fun Day Saturday
at park in Tiltonsville
TILTONSVILLE -- A Family Fun Day featuring free food and games will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Warren Township Park, 400 Williams St., Tiltonsville.
Event hosts are Family Recovery Center and the Buckeye Connection Mentoring Program.
Free hot dogs and chips will be provided along with games for children. Families also will be able to get information about community resources, according to a promotional flyer.
Committee on Age welcomes
residents to attend meetings
FOLLANSBEE -- In observance of Older Americans Month, the Brooke County Committee on Aging invited senior citizens to attend its May 14 meeting and share ideas for the Brooke County Senior Center, which the board oversees.
A drawing was held for a $25 cash prize, with Violet Corso named the winner.
The board welcomes everyone to its regular meetings, which are held at noon on the second Monday of every other month, with the next one slated for July 9. Those seeking to speak to the board are asked to call (304) 527-3410 to be put on the agenda.
Summer meal program offered
in Brooke County locations
From June 4 through July 27 the Brooke County Public Library and its Follansbee branch will be hosting a twice weekly summer meal program sponsored by C.H.A.N.G.E. Inc.
The cold lunches will be served from noon to 1 p.m. each Wednesday and Friday at the Brooke County Library and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each Monday and Friday.
No meals will be served on June 20 and July 4, when the libraries will be closed for West Virginia Day and Independence Day.

Through a federal grant, the agency also provides free lunches for children at several area parks.
Hancock Humane Foundation
continuing spay, neuter clinics
The Hancock County Humane Foundation continues to provide low-cost cat spay and neuter clinics in 2018.
Openings for June 10 and July 1 are still available. The cost per cat is $55 and includes a rabies shot along with flea and ear mite treatments. Call (304) 244-2590 to schedule a clinic appointment. Feral cats are welcome, too.
