announces fundraisers
MINGO JUNCTION -- A chicken dinner fundraiser at St. Andrew Orthodox Church, Cemetery Lane, Mingo Junction, will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 27. Whole and half chicken dinners will be available for purchase. Call (740) 535-0397 on the day of the sale for information.

Weirton church hosting
'Appearing' presentation
WEIRTON -- The Weirton Seventh-day Adventist Church at 600 Colliers Way will host a presentation on "The Appearing, Are You Ready?"
Opening night for the free event about end-time Bible prophecies with Shawn Boonstra will kick off at 7 p.m. on Oct. 25.

Halloween party, costume
contest for children planned
WEIRTON -- The children's ministry of First United Methodist Church of Weirton, 3301 West St., will host a children's Halloween party and costume contest from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27.

Colliers UMC to hold bazaar,
turkey dinner on Oct. 27
COLLIERS -- Colliers United Methodist Church, at 318 Pennsylvania Ave. will hold its annual Fall Bazaar and Turkey Dinner on Oct. 27.
The bazaar will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include a variety of soups and sandwiches for eat-in or take-out from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There also will be a baked goods sale and flea market items.
The dinner will be served from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and include turkey and dressing, whipped potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, desserts and drinks. The price of the dinner is $10 for adults; $5 for children 7-12; and free for children 6 and under. Carry-outs will be available.

Jack Ernest guest speaker
Sunday at New Somerset UMC
NEW SOMERSET -- The New Somerset United Methodist Church will present an "Evangelical Awakening" on Sunday at 6 p.m., featuring Marine Corps veteran Sgt. Jack Ernest as guest speaker.
A Richmond resident, Ernest is a highly decorated veteran who served in Vietnam and was wounded in combat.
He received an honorary doctor of divinity degree from Omega Bible Institute and Seminary and made more than 40 humanitarian return trips to Vietnam and other Asian countries. He is the founder and president of We Believe International.
Ernest was named veteran of the year for 2007-08 and was inducted into the Veterans Hall of Fame in Ohio in 2012. He serves as a commissioner for the Jefferson County Veterans Service Commission and is the chaplain for the local Vietnam Veterans Support Group, Chapter 1.
The church is located at 4378 township Road 241, in New Somerset just off state Route 213.
St. Peter CWC makes donation,
finalizes bake sale plans
STEUBENVILLE -- The Catholic Woman's Club of St. Peter's Church held a covered-dish luncheon for its Oct. 3 meeting. The Rev. Timothy Huffman opened the meeting with a blessing.
Before the meeting, Huffman's birthday was celebrated with a cake.
President Bea Antol thanked the members who helped with the mum distribution and the Blue Mass reception.
Sister Mary Brigid spoke to the CWC about the Diocesan Rosary Congress and the Sacred Heart Center of Hope. The club voted to make a monetary donation to the Center of Hope.
Treasurer Mary King discussed the Boxes of Joy project. Plans were finalized for a bake sale with the proceeds being donated to the Seminarian Fund.
The next meeting will be held at noon on Nov. 7 in the church hall.
Revival services planned
at Finley United Methodist
STEUBENVILLE -- Finley United Methodist Church, located at 958 Lincoln Ave., is holding revival services beginning Sunday and continuing through Wednesday.
Evangelist Stephen Manley of Lebanon, Tenn., will lead the services that will be held at 10:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Starting time is 6:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
Special music will be provided by Pastor Brock Barnhouse.
Manley grew up in the home of an Indiana Methodist pastor, received the call to ministry at age 7 and began filling his father's pulpit at 11. By 24, he made the leap into full-time itinerant evangelism, which became his call for the next 40 years. He has authored more than 50 books and evangelized in Europe, Africa and South and Central America. After spending more than 40 years in evangelism, Manley started and became the lead pastor of Cross Style Church of the Nazarene and launched the Cross Style School of Practical Ministry in Lebanon, Tenn.
A native of Richmond, Barnhouse loved singing with his family as they ministered at local churches on the weekends and later traveled the country in music ministry with the McNichols. He served as minister of music and associate pastor for the Winchester First Church of God in Kentucky, then senior pastor at New Horizons Community Church of God in Columbus before becoming the senior pastor of the Barrs Mill Church of God in Sugarcreek.
Annual turkey dinner Nov. 1
at Christ United Methodist
WEIRTON -- Christ United Methodist Church at 3598 Pennsylvania Ave. will hold its annual turkey dinner fundraiser from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 1.
Patrons can dine in or get takeout. The homemade dinner includes turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry salad, pumpkin desserts, rolls and beverage. The meal cost is $10 for adults; $4 for children age 10 and younger; and children under 5 eat for free. To arrange takeouts before the dinner date, call (304) 748-6680.
