Steam Threshers show planned
NEW ATHENS -- The 55th-annual Stumptown Steam Threshers reunion and show is slated for Sept. 9-10 at the Stumptown Steam Threshers grounds at 43772 Stumptown Road (state Route 519).
Admittance is $5 per person.
The show will include steam, gas and diesel tractors, oil field engines, engines, saw mill, antique cars, trucks and garden tractors.

Oglebay Carvers announce changes
WHEELING -- Officials with the Oglebay Woodcarvers Guild of Wheeling announce a number of new carvers will be featured in the upcoming Labor Day weekend carving show, which will be held in the Pine Room at Oglebay Park.
There is free admission.
Martin Schnur of Comstock Park, Mich., a professional carver, will be featured on Sept. 2-3 at the park. He will display realistic painted, stylized and natural finished fish in their aquatic surroundings. He utilizes woodcarving and sculpture, wood-burning and airbrush painting to create works of 3-D art.
Other first-time exhibitors carvers include Sherrie Clark of Bellevue, Ohio; John Broughton, Dayton, Ky.; Bridges Dillehay, Madison, Tenn.; and Janet Ellis, Butler, Pa.
All visitors will be given a free drawing ticket for a carved prize, with one winner drawn every hour at the show. There will be wood and tool sales related to carving. Special events will be conducted throughout the park.
Youth Orchestra auditions planned
WHEELING -- The Wheeling Symphony Youth Orchestra will hold auditions for those interested in joining the philharmonic group, which is made up of mostly high school and college students.
Auditions will be held at 6 p.m. Monday in the Wheeling Park High School music department.

"Auditions typically last 15 minutes, during which time you will be asked to play a couple of scales and a solo piece that you have been practicing," Baker said.
Existing members are not required to re-audition.
"And just as a reminder, the sinfonietta, which is made up of mostly middle school students, requires no audition," she said. New and existing members, simply show up for the first rehearsal at 7 p.m. on Aug. 28.
"We hope to see a lot of familiar faces this season, as well as many new ones," Baker said. "Both ensembles welcome anyone who would like to build even more upon their classroom and individual practice time and experience a full orchestral setting. The WSYO is a great opportunity to meet fellow young musicians who want to challenge themselves with professional repertoire that is both engaging and fun. Watching these individuals' confidence grow and their abilities progress in such a short amount of time is really magnificent."
Rehearsals, as of now, will be held every Monday at WPHS starting at 7 p.m. The sinfonietta rehearses until 8 p.m., and the philharmonic rehearsals until 8:30 p.m. The fall concert will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 28, and the spring concert will be held at 7 p.m. April 24.

Farm Aid coming to KeyBank
BURGETTSTOWN -- Organizers have announced that the annual Farm Aid benefit concert is returning to Pennsylvania.
This year's festival is set for Sept. 16 at KeyBank Pavilion.
It marks the third time it's being held in the state since it began in 1985. It was held in Hershey in 2012 and in Burgettstown in 2002.
Performers this year include Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young and Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds. Other acts include Jack Johnson, the Avett Brothers, Sheryl Crow, Jamey Johnson, Blackberry Smoke, Valerie June, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and Insects vs Robots.
Tickets go on sale Friday.
Third-annual food truck fest set
DENNISON -- Some end-of-summer fun involving different types of food, beer, wine tasting, games and live music is on tap for Sept. 2.
Officials with the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum System announce the third-annual Jammin' Food Truck Fest, a free event, planned from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the lower level of Historic Schoenbrunn Village.
Participating food trucks and food vendors will offer a variety of specialties such as ice creams, root beer floats, walking tacos, barbecue classics and fusion, smoked meats, seafood, comfort food, mac-n-cheese, pizza, artisan fries, corn fritters and specialty drinks and treats. Vendors include Lobster Louies, Slop Truck, Ross Mountain BBQ and Raging Avocado.
The event will feature a beer garden with a variety of beer and shandy that can be enjoyed throughout the lower level. Nonfood vendors will be set up in the shopping section featuring handmade jewelry by Wander and Wonder Co., an assortment of handmade products by Sew Wright Creations and more.
The on-stage lineup will be hosted by Hitchcock Sound Co. with DJ services throughout the day. The live music will start with Daniels and Rinehart at 11 a.m., Randy Velez at 2 p.m., and wrapping up the evening will be Valleytown at 5 p.m.
New this year, the event will host several local wineries for wine tasting and sales throughout the day. Tickets for the wine tasting will be available for purchase from the Dennison Depot or at the gate the day of the event.
For $20, visitors will receive their own Food Truck Fest wine glass and eight tickets to sample wines from the attending wineries, including Breitenbach Wine Cellars and Raven's Glenn Winery. Additional wine tickets will be available at $5 for three tickets. Three tickets will buy a full glass of wine. Guest also purchase favorite bottles of wine from the participating wineries to enjoy at the event or to enjoy at home.
A donation of $3 will provide visitors with a wristband to receive a $1 discount on each beverage purchased at the museum's drink tent, beer garden, wine tasting and a $1 off admission into Schoenbrunn Village museum and site.
All proceeds will benefit all three museums in the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum System.
Event Co-Chair Heath Manbeck said, "Last year was a lot of fun. I am excited we are adding wine tasting and partnering with Be Yoga Studios for a new and exciting activity this year. We raised a great deal of funds for the museums and doubled our attendance in 2016, and we hope to continue that growth year after year."
Attendees can join Be Yoga Studios for a free yoga or tai chi class, so bring a yoga mat for a great stretch on the lower level lawn of the village. Sarah DiFazio, owner of Be Yoga Studios will host the Gentle Yoga Flow class at noon. Karen Phillips of Be Yoga Studios will host Tai Chi at 2 p.m. There is no registration required for the free classes.
A variety of open activities will take place on the lawn as well, and all are welcome to join in on volleyball, cornhole, horse shoes and classic children's games.
This is a family-friendly event and will be held rain or shine in the lower level of Historic Schoenbrunn Village in New Philadelphia at 1984 E. High Ave. Parking for the event will be in the lower level.

Bacon, Brew and Rib Fest set
SOUTH PARK, PA. -- A Bacon, Brew and Rib Fest is planned Sept. 2-3 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the South Park Fairgrounds.
A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit Big Brother Big Sister of Greater Pittsburgh.
The event will feature a variety of craft breweries and vendors, local food trucks, live entertainment and a kid's area.
The event is hosted by BBR Ventures LLC, and there is a $10 admission cost.
Reminiscent of the Rib Cook-off previously held at the South Park Fairgrounds during the past 20 years, the Bacon, Brew and Rib Fest offers attendees a modern spin to the traditional festival. This year's event will offer a great selection and styles of bacon, craft beers and rib recipes, both savory and sweet.
There also will be a "best is show" food competition, a bacon eating contest, car show and sampling packages.

PGH Rewind announced
PITTSBURGH -- Jump in the time machine and kick it old school in the cultural district.
Re-live the best moments from the 1970s, '80s and '90s at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's newest summer celebration, PGH Rewind, on Aug. 26 at the Trust Arts Education Center, 805-807 Liberty Ave.
PGH Rewind will feature three floors of non-stop fun, including live music from Ferris Bueller's Revenge!, DJ Jesley Snipes, DJ Selecta and more.
Nostalgic treats from local restaurants and signature cocktails on each floor complete the night, and all proceeds benefit the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's education outreach and free arts programming. A ticket to this event also includes a one-year membership to the Cultural Trust's Partners Membership Program.

Striplight Theatre postpones event
WEIRTON -- The Ohio Valley Cloak & Dagger Company has postponed "Cloak & Dagger On the Air: 75 Years of Suspense" from this weekend to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 9. This evening of three one-act radio plays will be presented at the Ashley Marie Theatre located at 3383 Main St.

Montani Semper Liberi sponsors trip
NEW MANCHESTER -- The Montani Semper Liberi Music & Art group is sponsoring the annual overnight trip to New York City scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 30 through Oct. 1.
Reservations now are being accepted.
The cost per person, from $159 to $209, will cover the charter transportation and accommodations at the historic Wall Street Inn. Discounted rates are available for children age 12 and under. In addition, a continental breakfast will be provided at the hotel.
