Jennifer Bond

EARNED STATUS: Jennifer Bond, director of radiology at Wheeling Hospital, has earned Certified Radiology Administrator status from the Radiology Administration Certification Commission.

“Jen has been instrumental in moving the radiology department toward a positive environment of care,” said Diane Livengood, senior director of Imaging Services. “It is through her strong leadership skills that operational challenges are met, yielding positive outcomes. I share the opinion of many: Jen is a pleasure to work with.”

Bond, of St. Clairsville, joined Wheeling Hospital in 1995. She graduated from the hospital’s radiology program in 1997 and stayed on as a radiology technologist. She filled the operations manager position in July 2013 and became radiology director in February 2016.

She is a 2010 graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University with a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and development.

APPOINTED: Candie Starr, a Weirton native, has been appointed the new chief executive officer of the Lincoln Heath System Community Hospital in Fayetteville, Tenn.

Starr has more than 23 years in the health care industry, holding leadership roles as chief operating office and CEO.

She has a master’s degree of healthcare administration from American Intercontinental University in Atlanta.

She is the wife of James Starr of Toronto and they have two daughters. She is the daughter-in-law of Johnnie Starr of Toronto and the late Nancy Starr.

WORKSHOP SET: The West Virginia Small Business Development Center will hold a business fundamentals workshop from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Aug. 17 at West Virginia Northern Community College.

The course will cover getting a business license, identifying the market and writing a business plan that will build credibility with potential lenders.

The workshop is part of the center’s Three Start Jump program, which involves one-to-one meetings with its business coaches.

CONTEST SET: West Virginia University and A Vision Shared present the 2017 Entrepreneur Business Pitch Contest at 6 p.m. Aug. 31 at Brooke Hills Park.

Potential business owners in Brooke and Hancock counties may pitch their ideas for a chance to win $3,000 for startup costs.
