Follansbee Pharmacy hosting annual health fair
FOLLANSBEE -- Follansbee Pharmacy will host its annual free health fair, from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Follansbee Community House.
The event is open to all area residents, and will provide free cholesterol and blood glucose screenings with no fasting required.
Flu vaccines also will be available, so residents are encouraged to bring their insurance cards as most insurances are accepted.
"This event is something all of our team members look very much forward to. We have a first class 'barbecue' planned for all those who attend and the first 200 participants will get a free T-shirt. We cannot thank the area health providers enough for donating their time and expertise. The fair would not be possible without their generosity," according to J.J. Bernabei, one of the owners of the pharmacy.
Some of the area providers set to participate include First National Bank of Follansbee offering information on financial checkups and free checking accounts for seniors; Hawkins Hearing offering hearing health tips and insurance and financial aspects of their services; Valley Hospice will be taking blood pressures, providing information about end of life care and what resources are available.
Ohio Valley Optimal Healthcare will be there, as well as Dr. Stephen Alatis and his staff.
According to Alatis, "My staff and I love this event. It's great to see my patients in this setting. Everyone has a great time. I am glad to be a part of it."
Several doctors and practitioners from Weirton Medical Center will also be joining the fair this year. Dr. Cherian John, Dr. John Cherian, Dr. Stephen Mascio, Dr. S. Prasad, Paul Marino-CRNP and Shea Bonacci will be on hand to answer health questions in general and also provide information about any and all services that are now provided at Weirton Medical Center and its partners.
Tri-State Medical Group has three pharmacies in the Tri-State Area; Follansbee Pharmacy in Follansbee, Tri-State Pharmacy in Weirton, and Value Leader Pharmacy in Wintersville.
Also part of the group is Tri-State Medical Supply, a home medical equipment and oxygen company.
The group is locally owned and has been serving the area for more 20 years.
