Kid-Friendly fall fun

returns to Kennywood

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — As fall floats into Pittsburgh, Kennywood’s Happy Hauntings prepares for its second season of offering kid-friendly fun!

Happy Hauntings returns on weekends, highlighted by the new Thomas Town at Kennywood attraction, redecorated for the fall and including a new live show, “Steel City Adventures, A Spooktacular Celebration!”

Along with the addition of Thomas Town, Happy Hauntings has expanded to include Kennywood classics such as the Potato Patch and Turtle, plus the 4D theater, which will show immersive short film, “Happy Family 4D.” Written by bestselling author David Safier, viewers will experience the fast-paced, magical mayhem of “Happy Family 4D” as the Wishbone family attempts to reverse the spell that an evil witch places on them. Presented in 3D with in-theater special effects, guests will be spellbound as they follow the family on their ludicrously spooky adventure!

“With an encouraging first year of Happy Hauntings under our belts, we’re excited to expand the event’s offerings this year,” said Kennywood General Manager Jerome Gibas. “Coupling kid-friendly fall fun with classic Kennywood family rides and attractions makes for a great combination.”

In addition to the new attractions open this year, the Jack Rabbit, Paratrooper, Merry-Go-Round, Auto Race and select rides in Kiddieland will operate during Happy Hauntings.

Kennywood’s Happy Hauntings takes place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in October. Tickets are available at the gate for $17.99; children age 3 and under receiving free admission. Guests can find discount coupons at local Spirit Halloween locations. Costumes are permitted to be worn by children; however, parts of some costumes (capes and other longer accessories) may not be worn on select rides for safety reasons. Adults are asked to please refrain from wearing costumes. For information, visit www.kennywood.com/happyhauntings or call (412) 461-0500.
