Woman left baby outside bar
HAZLETON, Pa. -- A woman has been jailed after police say she was drunk and abandoned her 14-month-old baby outside a bar.
Hazleton police charged 18-year-old Destiny Davila with child endangerment, public drunkenness and underage drinking after the incident.
Police and federal agents conducting a saturation patrol found a woman sitting in a car with Davila's baby. The woman told police she had found the baby unattended for about 25 minutes in front of the bar and was caring for it.
Davila arrived at a hospital after police had taken the baby to be checked out. Police say she was drunk and told them she had been drinking before she took the child to the bar, and left the baby there when someone offered to care for her.
Teen in police car shoots self

The medical examiner's office says Xavier McMullen died of a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was ruled a suicide.
Police had said a gun was found next to the teen after the shooting. The shooting occurred after the teen and two 18-year-old men were arrested as suspects in an armed robbery. The suspects were placed in separate cruisers. Police Capt. Daniel Zampelli says a gunshot was heard while officers were investigating, and the teen was found dead.
Officer allegedly hit jogger with car
DECATUR, Ga. -- An Atlanta-area police officer who authorities say hit and killed a woman with his car has been charged.
Police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell said that Officer Ian MacGowan has been charged with homicide by vehicle, reckless driving, speeding and failure to maintain a lane.
Janet Pickney was jogging on July 25 when police said MacGowan hit her with his cruiser around 7:30 a.m. The 66-year-old retired teacher and avid runner died at a hospital hours later.
Campbell said MacGowan was booked into jail and released. Investigators have said MacGowan swerved into Pickney while trying to avoid a car that had pulled out in front of him. MacGowan's cruiser then slammed into a house, injuring him.
Bat used to steal wedding cake
TOLLAND, Conn. -- Police say two men used a baseball bat they stole from one home to break into another and steal wedding cake.
Police say Zachary Jurewicz, 24, and 2Eric Rawson, 26, are in custody and face charges including home invasion and burglary.
Authorities say they stole several items at the first home and used the bat to strike items on the property. They then used the stolen bat to break into another nearby house, stealing a laptop, purse, alcohol and the top portion of a wedding cake from the homeowner's freezer.
The men ran into the woods after being confronted by the homeowner and were captured by police.
Donations were misappropriated
PHILADELPHIA -- The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia says some donations collected for two fundraising drives were misappropriated or mishandled by a bank employee who now faces criminal charges.
The archdiocese says a former employee at TD Bank is accused of tampering with donations that were to be stored in lockboxes. They are still trying to determine how much money is missing.
The archdiocese says the bank employee has been arrested.
Kidnapped girl thrown off bridge
WORCESTER, Mass. -- Police say a 7-year-old girl was kidnapped from her grandparents' home and thrown from a bridge into a lake.
The girl was taken at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday from the Worcester home by 35-year-old family friend Joshua Hubert. She was put in a car, choked and then thrown into Lake Quinsigamond.
The girl swam to shore in the town of Shrewsbury and was discovered at about 4 a.m.
Police say she suffered "visible injuries" that were not life-threatening.
