Sharon Lyttle
Sharon L. Lyttle was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on March 29, 1947 to the late John and Bertha Mae (Freeman) Seals.
She was raised by her Grandmother, Myrtle (Freeman) Miller, well known as Granny.
Under the musical direction of her twin brother at New Trenton Baptist Church, she sang soprano, tailor-made suits for concerts, and learned that it was okay to talk to strangers.
Sharon graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1965 where she excelled in reading, math, and citizenship. She added and multiplied faster than those using calculators.
Sharon later met and married Jackie L. Lyttle, captain of the football team. They settled in Mingo Junction, Ohio. Sharon was known for finishing crossword puzzles, encouraging people in the time of need, holding new babies, celebrating the Pittsburgh Steelers, being stubborn in her ways, and serving meals such as: turkey and dressing, cream pie, ginger cookies, Texas sheet cake, cinnamon rolls, and dinner rolls.
God gifted Sharon with the ability to serve from her heart. Her service was two-fold: while caring for the elderly, Sharon put her culinary art to work. She prepared various recipes for her clients, and they always wanted more. Her experience in cooking enabled her to lead the Culinary Department for many years at New Trenton Baptist Church.
Sharon was the boss. From her youth, she told her siblings what she thought was right. She did the same in the hospital. She dictated her care from the hospital bed, discussing details of medications and side effects often astounding the specialists. Many stated that she was “highly intelligent.” She states that she had “common sense worth more than any college degree.”
More importantly in Sharon’s life was her relationship with Jesus Christ and her family. She shared life lessons with strangers. She would say that if I could help somebody then my living will not be in vain. Sharon proved to be strong, resourceful, creative, and loving. Sharon loved her four daughters, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren with one more on the way. In her opinion, her family was the best. She will be especially missed by her twin brother, Myron.
Sharon passed away at the age of 70 at Forest Hills Center under the care of Kindred Hospice.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jackie L. Lyttle; and her nephew, Charles King Jr.
She is survived by daughters, Denise (Phillip) Wynn; Kim (Kelvin) Freeman; Michelle Cason; and Tanya Lyttle; seven grandchildren, Jack (Miranda) Lyttle; Torrey Tremayne; Kelvin Freeman II; Kamille Freeman; Ezra Cason; Nya Cason; and Kenneth Freeman; two great-grandchildren, Jaeden Lyttle; Mariyah Lyttle, and one baby soon to be born. Eight siblings: Darrington (Tina) Seals; Joan Seals; twin brother Myron Seals; Gloria Seals; Donald (Sheila) Seals; Paul (Lynn) Seals; Kay Seals, and Roberta Seals. She also leaves behind: The Freeman Family; the Brown Family; and the Seals Family. She leaves close friends: Mrs. Sandra Brandtley; Mrs. Brenda Harris; Mrs. Mary Hayden, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
