Students heading to state HOSA contest

Health technologies students at the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School earned top honors during the Ohio HOSA Future Health Professionals competition held at Buckeye Career Center in New Philadelphia on Feb. 18 and will now advance to the state contest in March. Among them are, front, from left, Alayna Sutherin, second place for nurse assisting; Chloe Brooks, third place for medical law and ethics; Kelcy Shannon, who tied for fourth place for home health aide; and Audrey Cochran, fourth place for personal care; middle, Genny Leverett, who tied for first place in CPR and first aid; and back, Floyd Edmond, fourth place for nurse assisting; Lilli Cole, who tied for first place in CPR and first aid; Ashley Brown, first place for behavioral health; Travis Rose, fourth place for behavioral health; Zoe Board, who tied for fourth place in CPR and first aid; Lexi Reed, third place in home health aide; Madison Cost, who tied for fourth place in CPR and first aid; Vanessa Davis, who tied for fourth place in home health aide; and Erica Miller, third place for clinical specialty. Caitlyn Hager earned first place in human growth and development. The state HOSA Future Health Professionals event is slated for March 16 at the Columbus Convention Center with an opportunity to compete during the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Dallas this June.
