In recognition of their efforts to beautify the city, members of the Reaching Higher Sunday School Class from the First Church of the Nazarene were honored by the City of Weirton Thursday afternoon. The class, in recent years, has adopted Banner Park, located at the intersection of Colliers Way and Miller Avenue, one of a handful of "pocket parks" located in Weirton and maintained by local businesses and organizations. Banner Park includes a fenced-off and mulched area with a series of benches and a little library. In addition, Mayor Harold Miller was honored for his own beautification efforts with a plaque installed by the park's gazebo, which was purchased by the city and installed by employees of the Public Works Department. — Craig Howell
