TORONTO -- The Toronto girls basketball team dropped a 48-45 decision to visiting East Palestine on Wednesday.
Ashton Thomas led the Red Knights with 20 points, while Michelle Anderson contributed 14.
Weir finishes second in swim tri
WHEELING-- The Weir High swimming boys and girls teams placed second in a tri at Wheeling Park on Wednesday, each topping Barnesville and finishing behind Wheeling Park.
The Red Riders Ryan Owens topped the 500 freestyle.
IC boys, Steubenville girls sweep
STEUBENVILLE The Redskins piled up victories over Martins Ferry, Catholic Central, Steubenville and Edison during action inside the Steubenville natatorium on Tuesday on the boys side, while Big Red collected wins over Indian Creek, Martins Ferry, Edison and Steubenville Catholic on the girls side.
Hunter Rusnak won the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Freestyle. Indian Creek also won the 400 freestyle relay.
Edison's Gage Cable captured the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke. The Wildcats also won the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay.
Kinsey Tucker swam to first-place finishes in the 100 Freestyle and the 200 Individual Medley. Raegan Murison won the 200 Freestyle and Carmen Nocera the 100 Butterfly.
The Redskins had winners in Lucianna Pietro (100 Breaststroke) and Gabby Boyuk (100 Backstroke). They also claimed the 200 Freestyle Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Lightning beat Penguins 3-1
TAMPA, Fla. -- Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 24 shots, NHL points leader Nikita Kucherov had a goal and an assist, and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1.
Anthony Cirelli and Tanner Jeannot also scored for the Lightning, who have won four in a row after a four-game skid.
Kucherov extended his point streak to 11 games, and has 44. points in 26 games. Vasilevskiy, making his sixth start since recovering from back surgery delayed his season debut, lost his shutout bid when Jake Guentzel scored with 53 second left in the third.
Tristan Jarry had 24 saves for the Penguins, who have lost eight of 11 (3-5-3). Pittsburgh went 0 for 4 on the power play to fall to 0 for 33 over the last 12 games.
