WELLSBURG -- The Bruins ended the streak in their annual rivalry clash with Weir High.

After dropping the last seven meetings with the Red Riders, the Bruins reversed those fortunes with a 27-14 victory Friday night at Brooke Memorial to finish their season 3-7. The loss drops the Red Riders to 1-8 with one game left in their regular season.

Brooke has a bye week, the final week of the regular season, and the victory did not move them into the top 16, according to the WV Tailgate Central as of Friday night.

Dante Talenko ran wild for the Bruins in the win, rushing for 245 yards on 27 carries, including a 55-yard touchdown.

Ty Sperringer went 10 of 17 for 163 and a pair of scores while rushing for 54 more yards. His touchdown passes went to Darion Hilton on connections of 47 and 40 yards.

Hilton finished with seven catches for 137 yards.

For the Red Riders, Lucas McAllister went 23 of 39 for 248 yards and a pair of scores in the loss. He threw a 7-yard TD to Daniel Howland (10 catches for 83 yards) and a 40-yard connection to Damir Mowder (nine catches for 148 yards).

Brooke scored first on a Sperringer to Hilton connection early in the first quarter and Chase Hile added a 37-yard field goal to make it a 10-0 Brooke lead after one.

Howland's TD grab brought Weir within 10-7 midway through the second quarter, but Brooke had the next three scores.

Hile added a 27-yard field goal, Hilton hauled in his second TD and Tulenko broke his long scoring run to make it 27-7 Bruins.

Mowder hauled in his touchdown grab late in the half to make it 27-14 at halftime, then the defenses took over as neither team scored in the second half.
