CHARLESTON -- The state’s three unions representing teachers and school service personnel said there are plans in place for a possible work stoppage in the future, in response to the education omnibus bill currently before the Legislature, but would not say what the triggers for a work stoppage would be.
The West Virginia Education Association, the state chapter of the American Federation of Teachers, and the West Virginia School Service Personnel Association held a press conference Friday morning at the State Capitol Building in Charleston.
Union representatives announced that ballots are being sent next week to union and non-union teachers and school service personnel in every county to vote to authorize to state union leaders to call a work stoppage if they deem a stoppage is necessary.
