DOVER -- The Jefferson County Post 33 American Legion baseball team continued its busy -- and successful -- stretch by sweeping Tuscarawas County on the road on Saturday.
Post 33 won the first game 11-3, large in part to a seven-run third inning outburst, and the second game 17-1 in five innings, plating eight runs in the third and six runs in the fifth.
In the first game, Jefferson County was led at the plate by Clayton Criss with three hits and four RBIs. Klay Cottis had two hits and an RBI, George Ash two hits and Alec McBane had an RBI.
On the mound, Anthony Sinicropi got the win, tossing the first three innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits with three stikeouts and four walks. Ryan Neely replaced him and threw the next three innings, striking out one and walking two while not allowing a run. Branyon Wade threw the seventh.
In the second game, Andrew Kinney led the way with three hits, including a home run, and five RBIs.McBane has three hits and an RBI. Criss had two hits and three RBIs, Sinicropi two hits and two RBIs, Noah Fayak two hits and an RBI and Evan Lewis two hits and an RBI.
On the hill, Caden Buxton went the distance, striking out six and walking one while allowing one run on three hits.
Jefferson County, now 24-6, is at Weirton on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and hosts Toronto on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before competing in the Beast of the East Tournament next week.
