Jefferson County Farm Bureau
has new location, employee
WINTERSVILLE -- The Jefferson County Farm Bureau recently has relocated the office from the Bantam Ridge Road location to 43029 Industrial Park Road, Suite C, Cadiz 43907.
The phone number will remain the same at (740) 266-6603. Office hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Walk-in hours will be from 8 a.m. to noon on those days.
Beverly Terry of Cadiz will be serving as the new office administrator. Contact the office by phone or via e-mail to jefferson@ofbf.org.
Ohio Farm Bureau's mission is working together for Ohio farmers to advance agriculture and strengthen our communities, a spokesperson noted.
Wellsburg Women of the
Moose plan card party
WELLSBURG -- The Wellsburg Women of the Moose will hold their annual card party and bake sale on Oct. 20, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, 844 Main St., Wellsburg.
Tickets are $7 and include refreshments and a guaranteed door prize. Tickets will be available at the door, and advance tickets may be picked up at the lodge. "As always, there will be many nice prizes to win," a spokesperson noted. "You don't have to know how to play cards to participate. You can play the game of your choosing or just socialize." The event is open to the public. Those planning to attend in a large group can contact Irene at (304) 737-2553 or Sonya at (304) 737-0178 to reserve a table.
Country Friends announces
entertainment for weekend
COLLIERS -- Country Friends will host Hank Vincent's Stone Street Station on Friday and Light Touch on Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 67 Police Lodge Road, Colliers.
The doors open at 6 p.m., the dance starts at 7 p.m., and the hall closes at 10 p.m. for both events. There is a $5 cover charge per person on dance nights.
Open mic is Monday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the covered-dish meal is served at 5 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. There is no cover charge on Mondays, but donations are appreciated.

S.O.A.R. luncheon meeting
is scheduled for Oct. 9
WEIRTON -- The next luncheon meeting of S.O.A.R., an acronym for Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees, will be held on Oct. 9 at the Greater Weirton Senior Center, located at 3425 Main St.

Auxiliary to host dinner Oct. 6
PINEY FORK -- The Piney Fork American Legion Post 735 and Auxiliary will hold their annual spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the Piney Fork Legion Hall. Dinner includes spaghetti with meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and drink, with a choice of coffee, ice tea, lemonade and water. The dinner is $7 for adults and $3 for children under age 10. Patrons can dine in or get carryouts.
Retired Teachers hear reports,
conduct memorial service
WINTERSVILLE -- The Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association met Sept. 10 at the Wintersville United Methodist Church. Dave Nicholson presided.
Larry Coleman reported 42 members logged 6,576 volunteer hours from January through June. The deaths of Monica Moore, Georgia Smyth, Frances King and Patricia Albaugh were acknowledged with a memorial ceremony conducted by Barbara Jean Losey.
Kendra Burger, ORTA liaison, distributed new contact information and noted the ORTA is still working to return COLA and encouraged the chapter to attend a STRS board meeting. John Buch from STRS reviewed 2020 health care changes. The next meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 12 at Starkdale Presbyterian Church.
