Yelling: A dispatcher heard "a lot of screaming" in the background when a Cross Creek township woman reported being assaulted by her live-in boyfriend, but when officers arrived on scene the boyfriend told them they'd been fighting over a cell phone he said he bought and pays for. Both parties admitted there was some "back and forth shoving" but neither wanted to give a written statement or file charges.

Light-fingered: A Wintersville man told deputies someone withdrew $1,100 from his account Monday using a cash app on his smartphone. The man told police he noticed his debit card was missing after a friend who'd stopped for a visit left.

Threats: A Jefferson County woman told deputies Monday her ex is threatening her.

Bad idea: A teen-aged girl in the Toronto area was taken into custody Monday after sending nude photos of herself to at least two male students.

Steubenville police

Charged: Damarcus Monford, 24, 439 Dresden Ave., Steubenville, faces a criminal trespass charge after being caught at Heritage Place Apartments Tuesday. Police said Monford has been banned from property since 2018.

Bagged: A Logan Avenue resident who was using a private dumpster in the 400 block of North Third Street to dispose of garbage was told Tuesday he could face charges if he doesn't stop. After logging a complaint, officers found two bags next to the dumpster and located materials inside with names that led them to the Logan Avenue residence.

Cited: Amy M. Bartholomew, 38, 937 Broadway Blvd., driving under suspension and one-way street violation, and her mother, Cheryl A. Bartholomew, 65, 507 Lincoln Blvd., was cited for wrongful entrustment. Police said the younger woman was ticketed for going the wrong way on a one-way street Tuesday in the 1500 block of Ridge Avenue and driving under suspension. Because of a previous violation, her mother was also cited and the vehicle towed.

Passing go: A taxi driver who'd been instructed to return a sweater one of his fare's left in his cab said the woman took the sweater but tried to pay him the $11.75 return fare with play money.

Plundered: A North Fourth Street resident told police someone used his bank account Monday and stole about $700 from his account.

Summoned: Joseph L. Jones, 35, 1769 Noble Road East, Cleveland, was summoned Monday to appear in court on a criminal trespass charge. Managers of a Market Street property complained to police that Jones had been trying to convince building residents to let him in, even though he'd been banned from the property.

Wreck: Matthew H. Walker, 23, 3244 Sunset Blvd., was cited for failure to control a motor vehicle after a one-vehicle accident in the 1800 block of Sinclair Avenue Monday. Walker told police he over-corrected on a bend and ran off the roadway and hit a city fire hydrant.
