Cadiz Women's Golf League

The Cadiz Women's Golf League had its first day of play on Wednesday. Hostesses were Carole Patton and Judy Crawshaw.

The women enjoyed a mixed flight scramble followed by lunch in the clubhouse. The first-place team consisted of Brenda Hartley, Paula Hope and Glenda Sensel. Placing second was the team with Janis Cook, Carol Lepic and Bonnie Beetham.

Skill prizes were as follows: Closest to the pin, second shot, Tracy Amos; longest putt, Sandy Terek; longest drive, Laura Daily; closest to the pin, Janis Cook; closest to the flamingo, Marilyn Kenny; and closest to the zig zag line, Glenda Sensel. The teams of Amos, Griffin, Augustine and Sims, Smith and Patton both had eagles. The following members had chipmunks: Brenda Hartley, Paula Hope, Kathy Newburn, Judy Crawshaw, Donna Griffin, Tracy Amos, Kathy Smith and Karen Sims.

Next week's play of the day will be "Bingo, Bango, Bongo," and hostesses are Donna Griffin and Laura Daily.

Red Oaks Ladies League

The women of the Red Oaks Ladies League played a scramble for their first outing of the season on May 10.

The winning team was Neysa McCart, Tammy Cox, Yuko Atwell and Denise Augustine with birdies on hole Nos. 11, 12 and 17. Brenda McClosky had the closest to the pin on hole No. 17. Tammy Koutsky had a chip-in on hole No. 18.

All women golfers are invited to play in this league. The evening league plays on Mondays at 5 p.m. Those interested should call the golf course the day of play to sign up before 3:30 p.m. The number is (740) 944-1400.

Participants also are advised to be at the course at least 20 minutes before the 5 p.m. tee-off time so teams can be formed.

The last Monday of each month the league plays at Highland Springs in Wellsburg with the same start time. This month, the Highland Springs outing will be on May 24 since the last Monday of the month is Memorial Day.
