WEIRTON -- Weirton is preparing to celebrate the Independence Day holiday, with a weekend of festivities planned.
The city's Independence Day Parade has been scheduled for 10 a.m., July 3 on Main Street.
The parade will feature a theme of "Saluting America's Servicemen Heroes and Honoring Our First Responders."

In addition, the city's fireworks display will take place at 10 p.m., July 4, launching from an area near Municipal Plaza.
From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. that day, city officials are organizing inflatable games, food trucks, face painting and more at the Weirton Event Center, including a performance by Easy Street.
Residents are being encouraged to come to the Event Center to view the fireworks.
