All Saints Greek Orthodox Church recently donated $500 to the Weirton Salvation Army from proceeds generated from the church's recent Greek Mini-Fest. The donation will be used by the Salvation Army to help support the Salvation Army's many ongoing projects within the community. From left are Nick Proakis, Greek Festival beverage chair; Capt. Gene Hunt of the Salvation Army; and Nick Tranto, president of the Parish Council and co-chair of the Greek Festival. Tranto said the church is preparing for another Mini-Fest that will be held Oct. 1 and feature all of the church's "famous Greek specialties and pastries." The Oct. 1 event will be a pre-order, take-out event but will have open its "Super Gyro,"Greek doughnut (Loukoumathes) and beverage booths available to the public for walk-ups from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. A large tent for outdoor seating and live entertainment will be featured for the mini-fest as the church slowly attempts to return to a more traditional food festival given COVID constraints, Tranto explained.
