WELLSBURG - The gold medals are heading south. The John Marshall boys' cross country team and the Shadyside girls' team captured the team titles at the 2026 Bryan Fritz Memorial Invitational Wednesday evening at Brooke. The boys from Marshall County brought home the team title with 28 points. Following John Marshall in the team standings were Wheeling Park with 55, Big Red with 64 and Weir with 74. MORGANTOWN — West Virginia defensive lineman Darius Wiley was rushing Deuce Bailey in the fourth quarter of the season-opener against Coastal Carolina. He had a strong camp and was making an impact in just the first game of the season. Wiley was rushing like he always had, but tweaked his leg, which turned into a gruesome injury.
