Urban Mission receives grant
Franciscan University of Steubenville and Parkhurst Dining have partnered to present the fourth-annual Love Where You Live grant to the Urban Mission of Steubenville. Each year, Parkhurst, the university’s food provider, makes a donation to a charity of the university’s choice. This year, the Urban Mission was chosen for its many activities that help the poor and underprivileged in the Steubenville area. Throughout the year, university students volunteer at the Urban Mission. On hand for the presentation of the $5,000 check were, from left, David Schmiesing, vice president of student life at the university, Rhett Young, director of missionary outreach for the university; Paul Weinberg, district manager of Parkhurst Dining; Trina DeMarco, director of corporate giving and community partnerships of Parkhurst Dining; Cynthia Lytle, Urban Mission program director and community developer; Amber Wade, Urban Mission financial director; Vanessa Slappy, Urban Mission office manager; and Tiffany Beckwith, Urban Mission community engagement director. The Rev. Ashley Steele is executive director of the Urban Mission. — Contributed
