WHEELING -- Madison Taylor has been named as the new associate director of the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley.
A resident of Wheeling who attended Wheeling Central Catholic, Taylor graduated from West Virginia University, where she majored in marketing with an emphasis is digital marketing promotions.
"Maddi immediately brought a lot of great ideas and wonderful energy," said Jessica Rine, United Way executive director. "Her knowledge of digital marketing will be a great asset to the launch this year's annual campaign."
The United Way's annual campaign kicks off on Sept. 9 with the Sandy O'Haver Day of Caring. Throughout the fall, the United Way will reach out to individual donors as well as work with companies on corporate donations and employee campaigns. Funding raised supports more than 40 programs in local communities.
"I was attracted to the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley because of my background in community service," said Taylor. "I instantly fell in love with its mission and values. I am thrilled to be in a position doing what I love and using my skills to help people and my community."
Prior to graduating, Taylor spent two summers with the Civic Leaders Internship Program at the Community Foundation of the Ohio Valley. The program gave her marketing and business experience working with the Wheeling Nailers and the Wheeling Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Melynda Sampson, who had been serving as associate director, resigned in June to spend more time with her family and has recently welcomed her first grandchild.
"We are so grateful to Melynda for her years of services at the United Way and we are happy to welcome Madison to the United Way team," said Rod Haley, United Way board president.
The organization serves Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel and Tyler counties in West Virginia and Belmont County in Ohio.
