Jefferson County sheriff

Removed: Deputies removed a girl from a home in Mingo Junction after the girl was allegedly assaulted by her mother, Monday. Although initially advised by Jefferson County Child Protective Services that the child would have to remain in the home because that was her mother's wishes, deputies called the woman back and advised her they were doing an emergency removal. The girl was taken to Trinity West for treatment. Taken into custody was Kelly M. Boyer, 44, 118 Woodward Ave., Mingo Junction, charged with domestic violence.

Fired up: Tiltonsville Fire Department asked deputies to deploy their drone to assist in developing a strategy for fighting a brush fire, Sunday. Deputies said the fire, at the intersection of county roads 17 and 18, was progressing up the hill when firefighters asked for assistance.

Over-exposure: A man exposed himself to a 73-year-old Adena woman, Friday. The woman said she answered the door expecting to see a family member, but instead it was a man asking if he could use her bathroom. Once inside, he turned around, exposing his genitalia. The woman said he left, returning a short time later, but she refused to open the door.

Steubenville police

Arrested: Aaaron Cottrill, 29, 1106 Nevill St., Follansbee, possession of drugs and possession of hypodermic needles, Sunday. Cottrill was taken into custody following a traffic stop Sunday at the intersection of Carnegie and Wellesley streets. The driver, Mary McAllister, 35, 220 Weir Ave., Weirton, was cited for a stop sign violation.

Cited: Tan-ishia R. Spuriel, 37, 809 Highland Ave., Steubenville, driving under suspension and failure to display headlights.
