Traffic stop: Rusty Glen Conley, 40, 3420 State Route 213, Steubenville, was charged with possession of drugs after he was pulled over Sunday for allegedly running a red light on state Route 7. Officers reported finding a baggie containing a peach-colored substance similar to buprenorphine, a bill bottle under the center console containing a crushed, green-and-white powder he said was Xanax and an Alprozolam pill, all of which they said Conley claimed belonged to a girlfriend. He also was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device and failure to reinstate his license.

Ransacked: The caretaker of a family property in the Dillonvale area Friday reported someone entered and ransacked a home there. Deputies said the residence was in a general condition of disarray and the contents of drawers had been dumped on the floor. The caller previously had reported equipment had been vandalized. Ownership of the property had been in dispute among family members and was decided by mediation.

Problems: A woman said her ex-boyfriend and two friends showed up Sunday at her residence on County Road 56, Toronto, causing problems. The woman said her ex tried to run her and her current boyfriend off the road, then after they arrived at their destination came back with his friends and approached them. Her current boyfriend said a male began shoving and hitting him. As she and her current boyfriend went back in her house, the woman said one of the three men fired a gun, but deputies didn't find any casings.

Fraud: A Steubenville resident told deputies he received forms for $189 in unemployment benefits Saturday he hadn't applied for.

Fraud: A Toronto resident received a tax document Saturday reporting $1,294 in unemployment benefits for 2020, deputies said. The woman said she hasn't had unemployment compensation "in some time."

Fraud: An Adena couple told deputies Sunday they'd each received forms reporting unemployment benefits, though both have been retired many years. The fraudulent claims totaled more than $1,100.

Steubenville police

Missing: A woman told police Sunday her 9 mm handgun came up missing after her boyfriend became her ex-boyfriend. She said she's also had jewelry stolen and became suspicious when she found receipts from a pawn shop in her ex's possession. She said her son's Xbox and a headset also are missing.

Big foot: A woman in the 1300 block of Jefferson Street said Sunday her upstairs neighbor is purposely stomping on the floor and making loud noises at night. She said she'd already contacted her landlord, but wanted her concerns documented in a police report.

Preemptive: A man who'd allowed a female to remove possessions she'd left in his apartment called police after one of her friends texted him that she was claiming he'd barricaded her in and wouldn't let her leave. The man told police at no time did he or his son tell her she couldn't leave.

Good thought: A Rosswell Avenue woman wants an order of protection against a man who climbed through her window Sunday without being invited.

Found: Police found a man lying in the grass in the 800 block of Sherman Avenue Sunday. The man told them he was homeless, so police took him to the City Rescue Mission.

Reported: A caller reported hearing a shot fired Monday from the direction of the Country Club, but police were unable to locate any signs of a disturbance.

Arrest: William Holt, 51, 201 Grandview Ave., Mingo Junction, is being held without bond after being taken into custody Sunday on a county warrant for failure to appear.
