Dream weavers: Two men and two women drinking in the 200 bock of S. 4th Street (rear) caused a disturbance, Monday. The three who were still there when police arrived and blamed the fourth individual, a man, who they said was arguing with one of the women. While there, police disposed of several opened containers of alcohol and told the three of them to go home. A short time later, police were asked to go back to the same location to talk with the fourth individual, who claimed he had a protection order from Common Pleas Court against the woman and refused to believe police when they advised him there was no such order in effect. Advised to stay away from the woman, they said he continued to argue with them until he finally told the officer he didn't want to talk with him any longer. As he was leaving, the officer spotted another open container and the man insisted it belonged to a relative of his and could not be dumped out. The officer said he'd responded to a trespassing complaint at the same property several weeks ago and knew "he was incorrect" and dumped the adult beverage.
Harassment: A Colonial Drive resident told police he's tired of his ex-girlfriend harassing him and said she's got her current beau doing it now, Monday. He told police she continues to text him from different numbers and won't stop, and said her new boyfriend is threatening to damage his vehicle.
Stolen: A Woodlawn resident told police a houseguest had stolen her son's prescription medication, Monday.
Shots: A pedestrian in the 100 block of Seventh Street reported hearing shots fired in the vicinity of Mercer Alley, Tuesday. Officers located the source of the gunshots and collected evidence. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Reported: Callers reported hearing shots fired in the LaBelle area, but officers said they checked the area thoroughly and were unable to locate any casings, Tuesday.
Fess up: Juveniles in the 1500 block of Maryland Avenue admitted setting off firecrackers, Monday. Police told the kids several callers had reported hearing shots fired and advised them to head home.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners of properties at 1305 Oregon Ave., 1434 Oregon Ave., 539 Union, 1411 Pennsylvania, 1232 Wellesley, 436 Lawson, 432 South Fourth St., 438 South Fourth St., 1513 Maryland Ave., and 2629 Hollywood Blvd., all for high grass.
Cited: Thomas A. Keith, 28, 762 Brady Ave., Steubenville, peeling tires/loud cracking exhaust and expired registration; A juvenile was cited for operating a car without a licensed driver.
Stopped: A driver was cited and her two passengers charged with drug violations after a traffic stop, Monday. Charged with possession of drug paraphernalia were Marcus Gibbs, 38, 11 Bell St., Weirton, and Nina M. Lloyd, 40, 54 Gala Lane, Colliers. Lloyd also was charged with two counts of possession of drugs. The driver, Brandy Gibbs, 39, 111 Bell St., Weirton, was cited for no operator's license. Police said the vehicle was spotted in the 1000 block of Adams Street with a faulty registration, and when they pulled the driver over, she admitted she doesn't have a driver's license. Police allege they observed chor throughout the vehicle and pills on the floor in the back seat.
