The officer said he was being argumentative and when his estranged wife came outside, she was as well, telling the deputy her ex was not allowed at the residence and she was not going to unlock the garage because he'd showed up unannounced. Speaking up: A child called 911, reporting that an intoxicated male was in his Hill Avenue home causing a disturbance, Sunday. When they arrived, the mother told police she had a seizure and when her son sees her in that condition he gets upset and calls for help. The officer told the child he did the right thing and could call for help any time. About a half-hour later the child called again, and this time the 911 operator reported hearing a man screaming inside the residence. The officer said he heard a commotion as he entered, and discovered a man who appeared to be "under the influence of a stimulant drug, speaking very fast (and) loudly" who promptly asked him for a ride. The woman's son and two of his friend's told police they saw the man choke the woman, who had redness and abrasions on her neck. The mother yelled at her son, accusing him of lying to police, and claimed repeatedly "that she strangled herself during a seizure, causing the abrasions on her neck."

Laurene L. Stubbs, 52, 730 North Seventh St., Apt. 403, was charged with making false alarms and served with a warrant out of municipal court for identity fraud and a bench warrant out of Belmont County, police said. Officers responding to Stubbs' building after the fire alarm was activated on the fourth floor said a female caller had asked that "police respond quick" and hung up, but upon arriving learned there was no emergency. When they made their way up the steps to her floor, Stubbs told them "she was glad we were there and that she pulled the alarm so that we would arrive quickly," adding it was clear there was no emergency and that it was clear she "pulled the fire alarm due to personal reasons and at no time was in danger." JMHA's security chief said she'd called him minutes earlier wanting to talk about her problems on the fourth floor. He said he was in the middle of something else and since hers was not an urgent matter, told her he would be there as soon as possible. He said by the time he arrived at Bridgeview Apartments about 15 minutes later, she'd already pulled the alarm.

Get it straight: A Terrace Avenue resident had told police someone in the 100 block of George Street had shot a BB gun at his dog, but when they checked the resident he'd singled out there were no children who had BB guns, Sunday. Irate: Josh A. Sciarra, 33, 153 Brockton Road, Steubenville, dog-at-large. A neighbor told police his small dog was tied to a stake in his back yard when he spotted Sciarra's dog charging it. Got your answer: A woman banging on the door of a residence in the 800 block of Market Street told police she only wanted to know if the woman had taken the $40 she'd had in her center console, Saturday. She said she'd been out with the woman in the apartment for "a portion of the day" and had left the other woman in her car, with the money, for a few minutes. After she dropped the other woman off she noticed the money was missing and when she went back to the other woman's house the woman wouldn't answer the door, though she did manage to call police.
