Domestic: A Wellsburg woman was taken into custody Thursday after allegedly stabbing her former boyfriend's hand with a steak knife at his Island Creek township residence. Tami Yvonne Parker, 47, 719 High St. Rear, Wellsburg, was charged with domestic violence. Deputies said Parker was "asleep (but) highly intoxicated" when they arrived at the man's residence. Her ex said they were arguing and she grabbed two knives and raised them above her head. He said he yelled for her to put them down and when he tried to grab at her hands, she stabbed him. He said they'd lived together at one time and he'd asked her to leave months ago after a dispute involving his children and there is a no trespassing order prohibiting her from being at his residence, but he'd wanted to give the relationship another chance so he'd allowed her to come to his house that night. He told deputies he didn't want to pursue charges but he wanted her to leave his property and not return. Deputies pointed out he was the one who invited her back and advised him of the process for obtaining a protection order. Parker was transported to the Jefferson County jail on the domestic charge and served with an outstanding warrant for failure to appear; the victim was transported to Trinity Medical Center West for treatment after complaining of losing feeling in his thumb.
Fired up: A man from state Route 213 said a female he was fighting with was throwing his belongings into a fire, Wednesday. Deputies couldn't locate the caller, but the female said they'd been arguing and then started shoving each other after he gave another female a hug in front of her. She said she didn't care about the hug because the two of them are just friends, but said he tried to make a big deal of it and acted as if she was offended by the hug. She said the two of them had been living together for about two months, but had been roommates for the last six and argue more often than not, but never seriously.
Cable down: AT&T reported 10 feet of active cable stolen from an area on Seven Creeks Road, Monday. Managers believe the date of theft was Thursday night because a repair ticket was called in the following morning.
Bad move: A young teen in Smithfield who surreptitiously took a hit from her mom's vape pen became ill, Friday. A friend told deputies the girl saw the pen on the kitchen table and took it to his apartment, and when he wasn't interested in it she took a hit herself and became immediately ill, vomiting in his family's kitchen sink, then sat down and fell backward. He said he thought she'd passed out, but her younger sister was able to help her back to her apartment before first responders arrived. Her mother said the pen contained a small amount of Delta 8.
Hostage property: A Newell man wanted to get his property out of a storage unit in Island Creek township because his lease was up, but told deputies the owner had padlocked it, Tuesday. The owner arrived and told deputies the Newell man had rented two storage units from him and had damaged the other one, so he decided to lock the remaining one until he made restitution for the damage he'd done. The owner said the lease states he can hold property or place a lock on a unit until restitution is made.
Gassed: A break-in was reported at a shed belonging to Faith Chapel, Island Creek township,Tuesday. The pastor reported the thief left the weed eater and lawn mower and took only some gas.
Popular item: A catalytic converter was stolen from a commercial vehicle in Richmond, Tuesday.
Booked: Ryan Lee Crawford, 19, 3294 county Road 10, Adena, domestic violence, Tuesday. Crawford was taken into custody after a dispute with a sibling over their grandmother's ring erupted into a brawl; Thomas Smogonovich, 18, 108 Sellitti St., Weirton, failure to register as a sex offender, Wednesday.
Cited: Joseph Athanasius Fallon, 28, 1334 Wellesley Ave., Steubenville, OVI, speeding and open container, Tuesday. Fallon was taken into custody after a traffic stop on state Route 213 at Grafton Road.

A Lawson Avenue resident said her boyfriend slapped her face and the back of her head while she was holding her baby, Tuesday. She said he also grabbed a Playstation console out of her other hand and the corner of it struck the child above his right eye, cutting the baby, and then smashed her iPhone on the sidewalk before fleeing. She didn't want to pursue charges.
Save it: An employee at a Market Street business said a male walked in and began saying "very rude and sexual remarks" to her, Wednesday. He continued even after she told him he was being rude, so she began recording him on her cell phone. She said he knocked her phone out of her hand, damaging the phone. She didn't get a chance to save the recording.
Sticks and stones: Two men living in the 700 block of North Seventh Street who don't like each other insist on calling each other pedophiles, Tuesday. Police and JMHA security discussed the situation with both of them. JMHA told them both to leave each other alone.
Loud and proud: A man refused to leave a Sunset Boulevard eatery, Wednesday. The manager said he was "yelling about how he was drunk and high."
Shrew: A Portland Boulevard resident told police her ex-boyfriend's girlfriend was outside her home, screaming, and threw trash in her yard, Wednesday. She said the woman was upset the man had brought her food.
Scammers at work: A downtown resident said someone is using SnapChat to try and blackmail him into doing some type of money scam, Tuesday. He said the scammers have access to personal information, including texts and pictures, as well as his banking and credit card information, though no money is missing from his accounts. He was advised to contact his bank and cancel all cards and to block or cancel his Snap Chat.
Flats: Someone complained about a vehicle with two flat tires parked off the side of the road for the past two weeks in the 700 block of Highland Avenue, Tuesday. The owner told them he'd lost the key and was waiting for a new one to be sent to him, so he'd left the car on his aunt's property.
Empty-handed: Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of South Fourth Street, Tuesday. A caller reported hearing several gunshots, but after checking the area police found no casings or other indications of a problem.
No luck: A South Seventh Street business reported someone tried unsuccessfully to steal a catalytic converter from a commercial vehicle, Wednesday. They said there is "obvious damage" where the would-be thief attempted to cut the converter free.
Won't go: A Steubenville couple was upset because their grown son who gets high and causes disturbances in their home won't leave, Wednesday. Because he's established residency, police told the parents they'd have to use the eviction process to get him out.
Code issues: Notices of violations were sent to the owners/occupants of properties at 305 Lovers Lane, 400 Buena Vista Blvd., high grass/weeds.
Cited: Charmyn L. Doty, 72, 71830 Sharron Road, Bridgeport, stop sign violation; Tyler LaRocque, 26, Jonesboro, Ga., assured clear distance ahead. Larocque rear-ended a vehicle at state Route 7 just north of University Boulevard Wednesday, police said.
Booked: Jessica L. Ash, 37, 1537 Main St., Wellsville, warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, Tuesday. Ash was taken into custody during an unrelated traffic stop in the 100 block of North Sixth Street, police said; Danielle Brynza, 121 Loretta Ave., Follansbee, warrant for failure to appear, Wednesday; Scott Gilmore, 50, 731 Oxford Blvd., Steubenville, DUS, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to control, Wednesday; Ryan T.
