Steubenville police
Technicality: A woman in the 800 block of Market Street said a woman known to her had been knocking on her apartment door for 30 minutes, Monday. She told police she thinks the woman feels as though she is keeping her property, but said the two items she did have that belonged to her she threw out.
Cited: Leanna Gump, 38, 1105 State St., Steubenville, dog-at-large. The flagging crew working while streets are being paved told police they were forced to retreat to their vehicle because of Gump’s two dogs. Gump told them the dogs pushed open a door leading to her garage.
Busy body: A caller complained that a dog was being left out on Dresden Avenue with no food, water or shelter, but the owner showed police the animal has plenty of water and can shelter at will on her large, covered porch, Monday. Police also noted the dog is healthy. The owner was curious why police came to her door when two individuals from the Jefferson County Humane Society had already investigated and found nothing amiss.
Watchful: Someone complained that city residents went out of town and left their dog home alone, Monday, but when police contacted the homeowner they were told arrangements had been made with family and friends to ensure their pet was well taken care of. The owners said a family member “goes over around three times a day and that there also is a friend of her sister’s husband that goes over to take care of the dog.”
No response: A North Sixth Street resident called police multiple times to report he was being harassed by people inside his building, but didn’t answer his door. The man called back to say he was not answering the door, dispatchers reported.
Booked: Danielle M. Brynza, 37, 121 Loretta Ave., Follansbee, possession of drugs and two counts possession of drug paraphernalia, Monday. Police said Brynza was found in her vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Lovers Lane near Coal Hill, slumped over, with several small white rock-like substances on the dash. They stirred her and said initially her responses were delayed but she became more alert, but when they had her exit her car they spotted a glass crack pipe with chor. They said they also found a scale with a white powder residue.
Scrapped: A man was caught removing scrap from an abandoned building in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, Monday. He was identified and advised to stop and have the owner follow up with the building department before doing anything else.
Booked: Jiah Minnifield, 25, no fixed address, Steubenville, possession of drugs and four counts possession of drug paraphernalia, Tuesday. Police responding to reports of a female overdosing found firefighters treating Minniefield, who required several doses of Narcan to resuscitate. She had been issued drug treatment forms several times in the past, and had four burnt glass pipes with chor in her possessions, police said.
Threatened: A woman reported being harassed at First Fridays, Monday. She said a woman known to her walked up and said, “I don’t like you anyway. I’ll whoop your (expletive).”
Stolen: A 2008 Dodge Magnum parked on private property at Fifth and Adams streets was reported stolen, Monday.
Vandalized: A Lincoln Avenue resident said sometime during the past two months someone stole her car battery and smashed her front windshield, Monday.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to the owners/occupants of properties at 236 Harvard Ave., 328 S. Fifth St., 100 Wilma Ave. and 2008 Fairmont Ave.
Targeted: A Glendwell Road resident said someone filed a fraudulent unemployment claim in his name, Monday. He told police he found out about the fraud when his employer received a call from the Department of Labor.
Booked: Jalin B. Beads, 28, 1414 Oregon Ave., Steubenville, fleeing scene of an accident, Monday. Police report Beads was at the wheel of a car that allegedly struck a juvenile at Franciscan Square. Beads, in the passenger seat when the vehicle was stopped minutes later on Woodlawn Avenue, admitted he had been at the wheel but claimed he didn’t hit a juvenile, but witnesses advised he was driving when the child was hit, police allege. Family members said Tuesday the child was sore but unhurt.
Booked: Alisha Sue Klotz, 27, 391 Westwood Drive, Steubenville, obstruction, possession of drug paraphernalia and unauthorized use of property, Tuesday.
