Quiet time: A landlord serving an eviction notice at a Smithfield location ended up in a dispute that turned physical with the tenant and family members, Saturday. The tenant told deputies the landlord handed her the notice and told her the only reason he let her stay there was her father was very ill, so she jumped up and grabbed her son’s air rifle, then put it back done. She said he started yelling in her face and continued calling her dead father names, so she shoved him and asked him to stop. The landlord claimed that when she got upset, she hit him with the gun. He said he was in his truck waiting for a deputy when another man pulled up and said he was going to “break his neck” if he said another word, then punched him in the mouth. The tenant’s brother said family members told him the landlord was calling his father “a no good thief” and other names, and when he told him not to talk about his father that way he said the landlord told him it’s “not his fault his dad was a liar and a thief …” He said he told the landlord again not to say that but he did anyway, so he punched him, The tenant said she’s trying to find another place to live but couldn’t be out in five days. She was told you can’t pick up an air rifle and shove your landlord because you don’t like what he said. The brother was told punching someone can lead to charges.

Silence is golden: A Wintersville woman was taken into custody following a disturbance, Saturday. Her husband told deputies the woman was “screaming and causing a disturbance, and all he wants to do is leave,” but she wouldn’t let him. Deputies said they booked Julie Brozka, 34, 997 Effs Lane, into custody on pending charges of disorderly conduct and domestic violence. Her husband told deputies he was asleep when she came home from work, but when she came into the room he woke up and noticed a Chipotle bag in the kitchen. When he asked her if she got him a sandwich, too, he claims she began pushing, hitting and pinching him until he called 9-1-1. He said she also threw a laundry basket down the hallway and punched the screen door leading into the garage, breaking the trim. The woman questioned what he had done for her, and deputies reported she wouldn’t stop screaming at the man, following him outside when he was talking to them despite warnings to go back inside, prompting them to take her into custody.

Hands off: A 14-year-old girl who was at Smithfield township park allegedly attacked a younger girl with whom she’s had problems in the past, Sept. 7. Deputies said she had several contusions and the brackets on her braces were dislodged, and the girl was diagnosed with a closed head injury.

Enough: Two people who cohabitate at an Amsterdam location called deputies, each complaining about the other, Monday. The female said the man was “screaming because her friend … opened his car door.” The male said he’s tired of his things being stolen or vandalized and believes her friend is the one doing it. Deputies told them their arguments and calling law enforcement to threaten their partners has gotten out of hand.

Dispute: A Toronto resident told deputies two vehicles were ramming into one another near her home and the occupants were screaming at each other, Sunday. Deputies located the male, who said he “did not call law enforcement, there was no problem and (you can) leave,” and refused to identify himself until they told him they’d talk to neighbors and if there was enough evidence, “return and arrest him and get his name that way.” The deputy said the two of them had a “loud conversation” about the ongoing issue, and the man eventually became more agreeable and gave them his name and said he and his girlfriend had argued and she left with their child. Deputies said the woman drove through a yard to leave but they stopped her anyway. Both of them denied having had a phsyical altercation or ramming their cars. The woman told them they just haven’t been getting along and she wanted to stay with family for at least a day.
