Making do: Callers reported a man in the 400 block of North Sixth Avenue stabbing the ground with a knife, Friday. The man told police he was cutting the grass with his knife. He said he was cutting it for money but didn't have proper lawn tools for the job.

Buzzed: Employees at a Sunset Boulevard business told police a suspicious male had been in their store for almost an hour, Friday. Police said the man was "seen to be sleeping while standing." He denied taking any drugs, but eventually admitted he'd taken his prescription methadone earlier in the day. Police said he was alert and refused treatment, so he was advised they wanted him off the property.

Cruel and unusual: A nonagenarian who'd been released from the hospital told a neighbor in Mingo Junction she was unable to get inside her home, Friday. The woman told deputies she thought a family member had changed the locks while she'd been in the hospital, and when they investigated they discovered new locks on the doors. They said her deadbolt had been drilled through, so whoever was responsible for the lock change apparently had no key to get inside. The woman told deputies they have a conflicted relationship and she doesn't get along with the family member she thinks is responsible, who lived nearby. Deputies were unable to locate the woman.

Incentive to leave: A Yorkville resident reported several individuals in cars were outside her residence, threatening her son, Friday. She said he told her he didn't know why they wanted to assault him, and said they fled very quickly when she went outside while she was on the phone with 911.
