WELLSBURG — After plying their trade at local hair salons for many years, two hairstylists have branched out with their own business at 1420 Commerce St.

Dana Miller and Lisa Stewart marked the opening of Shear Perfection with a ribbon cutting arranged by members of the Follansbee Chamber of Commerce and attended by many.

Miller said she and Stewart are pleased by the level of support they have received for their new business, which will cater to males and females of all ages.

She said they have benefited from the shop’s location on state Route 2 and having opened about a month ago, have seen many people who want to look good for the holiday season.

“Everyone wants the perms, the coloring, the haircuts,” said Miller, who noted they offer shampoo style and corrective coloring.

Appointments may be made by calling (304) 737-1800, though walk-ins are welcome at the shop, which is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and by appointment only on Wednesdays.

Appointments also may be arranged for other times, and the two may expand their hours in the future as needed.

The shop is at the former location of the Tropical Illusions hair salon, and Kim Cionni, the owner of that business, has maintained the tanning beds there.

The beds are available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Prior to their new endeavor, Miller, a Wellsburg native, and Stewart, who is from the Bethany area, had worked together for more than 20 years.

Miller learned her trade at the Scott College of Cosmetology while Stewart studied at the former Wheeling Beauty College.

Miller said the two enjoy interacting with their customers and look forward to serving the community.
