Jefferson County Sheriff

Alarming: A Mingo Junction man was taken into custody on a warrant out of West Virginia for allegedly making terroristic threats at his workplace, Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies said.

Kenneth Torok, 43, 2010 county Road 74, Mingo Junction, was booked into the county jail Friday on the fugitive from justice warrant, deputies said.

Torok allegedly told other employees at Blake Ridge Mine in Marshall County, where he worked, on Thursday that he was going to return with a gun and "shoot the place up," deputies said. Authorities in Marshall County said the man "may have access to explosives or explosive material and may have prior military service," deputies said.

Other employees said Torok was upset over workplace changes.

At the request of deputies, Torok came to the Jefferson County Correctional Center and spoke with deputies before the warrant was served.

Steubenville Police

Overdid it: Callers reported a man in the 1300 block of Belleview Boulevard causing a disturbance in the roadway, Sunday. He'd moved on before police arrived, but not long after they spotted him on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of Sunset Boulevard, "dancing while walking and stumbling." After ensuring he didn't have weapons or contraband on him, they too him back to his friend's residence on Belleview Boulevard.

Keyed up: Officers were asked to remove a man from a property in the 400 block of North Seventh Street, Sunday. The man told police he'd been let into the residence by a man who had a key and told him he could stay there for a couple days, but the property owner told them nobody was allowed in the downstairs part of the building. Police told the man he had to leave, which he did.

Extreme measures: A caller reported a woman forcing her way into a Broadway Boulevard residence, Sunday. Police located the woman, who said she'd accidentally locked her keys in the house and had to break a door window to get in.

Unwelcoming: A man who was helping his girlfriend find a phone she lost somewhere near the 200 block of Wilshire Boulevard said he knocked on the door of the house it pinged to and the homeowner opened the door with a gun in his hand and told him to leave his property, Monday. He left and called police, but afterward couldn't show police where the phone pinged because his cell battery died. He said the man hadn't pointed the gun at him.

Booked: Royace Brown, 55, no fixed address, petit theft and possession of drug paraphernalia, Sunday. Brown allegedly left a Sunset Boulevard drug store without paying for a bottle of lotion or other items employees claimed were concealed in his pockets, police said.

In the way: Police had a vehicle towed that had been parked in a field just east of the intersection of Adams Street Hill and Edgar Avenue because it was "completely obstructing the sidewalk," Sunday. Officers said pedestrians had to walk in the roadway to get around the vehicle.

Served: Kenneth J. Wheeler, 24, 205 Highland Ave., Apt. B., Mingo Junction, warrant out of County Court 2 for a probation violation, Monday.
