In custody: Two men and a juvenile were taken into custody after a foot chase that began on Maxwell Avenue and ended up in the woods by Washington Street Hill, Monday. Booked into the Jefferson County Justice Center were Traymar Moten, 18, 1418 Maryland Ave., Steubenville, charged with obstruction and served with a warrant for failure to appear, and Ahijan Brown, 18, 808 Franklin Ave., Steubenville, faces an obstruction charge. Police said the juvenile was charged with obstruction and pending charges. An officer had spotted Moten in a group of about 14 men in the 500 block of Maxwell Avenue and, realizing he was wanted on the warrant, tried to stop him but reported they all fled. Police said several were spotted minutes later walking toward Washington Street Hill, but when they spotted officers waiting for them at the bottom of the hill reversed course, heading back to the top. As one of the officers chased them up the hill, another waiting at the top advised them to stop. Police allege two cell phones and a handgun were recovered near the path where the three were running.
Charged: A South Sixth Street resident said the father of her newborn baby assaulted her, Monday. Police said she was sitting on her front steps outside the apartment when they arrived, "visibly upset and crying." She said she was arguing with her baby's father and asked him to leave but he refused, so she put his shoes on the front porch. She said when she came back inside he punched her in the head and face, all while she was holding their child. He fled on foot before police arrived but they said they saw him duck into a residence farther down the block, finding him hiding in the basement. Roneal E. Buford, 30, 533 Clinton St., Steubenville, was charged with domestic violence.
Kicker: A woman at a Clinton Street residence said she was kicked in the face by a male she knows only by his first name, Monday. She said she was at her friend's house when she saw another woman was posting things about her online, and after she went live on Facebook to tell her side of the incident the male showed up and kicked her in the face. She wants to pursue charges.
Concerned: Callers thought juveniles were trying to get in cars parked on Ridge Avenue near Maryland, Monday. Police didn't see any juveniles in the area.
Bad behavior: Juveniles were disrupting the dining experience at a Sunset Boulevard eatery and arguing with staff, Monday. Employees said they were trying to fight each other.
Cited: Maddisyn Butler, 19, 126 York Town Street E, Wintersville, failure to yield on a left turn. Dash cam footage from a cruiser behind Butler's vehicle "could clearly tell (she) failed to yield" at the intersection of John Scott Highway and Sunset Boulevard, police said.
Volatile: Two people were fighting behind the 1100 block of Oak Grove Avenue, Tuesday. Police separated the pair, with the woman returning to her residence and the male catching a courtesy ride to another location.
Phantom noise: Neighbors complained of loud music in the 3200 block of Sunset Boulevard, Tuesday. Police said they didn't hear a loud radio, but they made contact with the resident who told them he would turn his music off for the night.
Childish: A Summit Avenue resident told police several juveniles walked through her yard, and she has surveillance footage of a female juvenile spray painting the wood on the side of her mulch, Monday.
Charged: Shawn Gill, 53, 55 Virginia Ave. East, Wellsburg, possession of drug paraphernalia, Sunday. Gill also was cited for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
Booked: Vernon Smith, 39, 707 Market St., Apt. 307, Steubenville, failure to appear, Sunday; Robert Thomas Hess, no age listed, no fixed address, warrant for theft, Saturday.
Wouldn't go: A man refused to leave a residence in the 500 block of Clinton Street unless he could take his three TVs, Saturday. Police told him he'd have to take that up with the courts, and the female involved gave him some personal things and he left.
Code issue: A notice of violation was sent to owners/occupants of properties at 1534 Oregon Ave., a couch behind the house.
