Drug Task Force
Busted: A Toronto man is facing drug and gun charges after authorities raided his home Thursday.
Christopher Gulan, 31, 1205 county Road 56, was charged with possession of drugs, receiving stolen property and having weapons under disability, with the possibility that more might be filed, Jefferson County Drug Task Force Capt. John Lemal said.
Lemal said Gulan's arrest stems from a multi-jurisdictional investigation into stolen firearms and suspected drug trafficking, Lemal said.
Detectives seized six suspected stolen firearms as well as crack cocaine during the search which was conducted by the task force, comprised of detectives from Steubenville Police Department, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and members of the Hancock-Brooke-Weirton Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force.

Questions: A city resident causing a disturbance in the 400 block of South Fifth Street told police a woman inside the residence stole his backpack, Thursday. The woman told police he'd offered her money to help him move some items, but when she went to the abandoned residence, he was staying at she claimed he tried to remove her clothes so she grabbed his things and locked herself in her residence. She said once she did, he started pounding on her door. She gave police the man's things to give back to him.
Paying the price: A Wilson Avenue resident told police she left her wallet in the bathroom at Kroger and when she went back for it minutes later it was already gone, Thursday. She said her wallet contained $1,000 in cash, debit cards, her ID and other personal information, along with her significant other's ID and Social Security cards belonging to her children. She was actively receiving fraud alerts from her bank and the thief was "attempting to transfer money from her cards onto Cash App." She described for police the man who walked into the bathroom as she left.
Booked: Donald Staymate, 40, 464 Linden Ave., Steubenville, failure to appear, possession of drugs and conveyance, Thursday. Staymate was served with his outstanding warrant, but once at the Jefferson County Jail police allege he caused a disturbance in the booking area. Police said a small bag containing a substance believed to be cocaine was discovered on the floor where he'd been standing.
False alarm: Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Grandview Avenue for a 911 hangup call, Thursday. Dispatchers said the caller told them someone was trying to get in his residence, but didn't leave an apartment number. Police checked the area around the residence and reported everything appeared to be in order.
Booked: Thomas C. Moses, 37, 1296 state Route 646, Richmond, two bench warrants for failure to appear and possession of drug paraphernalia, Thursday. During the booking process Moses told police he had a meth pipe in his bag and a small glass vile containing what police said was only residue. He's being held in the county jail pending extradition, they said.
Fast lane: A driver who was driving through the parking lot at the Fort Steuben Mall at a high rate of speed while children and adults were walking to and from their vehicles was stopped, police said. The driver told them he'd left his phone at an outlet store and was "attempting to get there before it closed" to retrieve it. The store manager arrived and got the man's phone for him. He also got a warning from police for reckless operation.
Canned: City employees temporarily took custody of a city-issued garbage can after spotting a woman with one at a scrap business, Thursday. The woman told police it was her can and she was told she could use it to haul scrap. Employees took possession of it until they could verify the address of the homeowner it was assigned to.
Kids playing: A caller told police juveniles were playing in the roadway in the 500 block of Maxwell Avenue and causing problems for customers trying to enter a business, Thursday, Officers located the children, who were playing basketball, and told them to stay out of the street. They also talked to bystanders who told them no one had tried to enter the store lately, nor had the kids spoken to anyone, "and that it must have been a fake call."
Creeping: Callers reported a suspicious person looking into vehicles on Spring Avenue, Thursday. Police checked the area but couldn't find anyone behaving suspiciously.
Throwing things: Callers reported a male throwing rocks at cars in the 900 block of Adams Street, Thursday. Police checked the area but couldn't find him.
Gun reported: A caller reported a man on Euclid Avenue at Carnegie Street brandishing a firearm, Thursday. Police checked the area but were unable to find him.
Served: Tyka Petrella, 33, 324 S. Fourth St., Steubenville, bench warrant, Thursday.

A Steubenville resident spotted a man on the side of Tweed Avenue cutting copper wire with bolt cutters, March 23. He said when he pulled over to confront the man, who he recognized, he fled in a gray truck. Deputies said the man left behind a red-colored pair of bolt cutters next to bundles of copper wire waiting to be stripped.
