Feeding addiction: A city resident told police his son stole a flat-screen TV and a gold bracelet from his home, Monday. He said his son has been using illegal drugs and had pawned other items he had stolen from the house and had also stolen money and checks. He said after the latest incident he locked the front door to try and keep him out of the house, but his son got a screwdriver and tried to get back in, damaging the latch. He said his son took his truck but doesn’t have a license. Police found the truck parked and unoccupied on Oregon Avenue near Broadway, and when they notified him it had been found, the man told them his son had returned to the house complaining it had run out of gas and when he wouldn’t let him have his car, stole it and his bank and ID cards and ripped a cell phone out of his hands.

Keep them on: Staff members at a downtown shelter told police they were concerned two men were asking a female for nude pictures of herself and her children, Monday. The woman told them two men she knows only by the names “John” and “Cody” had asked her to send them nude photos of herself, but insisted they hadn’t asked for pictures of her kids. She said she blocked the men, but told police one of the men was supposed to pick her and her children up at some point but they didn’t show up. She said she told a staff member what the men had asked her to do and “stated that she was glad she did not get picked up because she felt that it could have led into the males possibly taking pictures of her children.” Asked to explain, she told police she felt “if she was picked up by someone she did not know that she was putting her children in danger of something like that potentially happening” and said she would never do that to her children.

Saw the handwriting: A city resident told police he thought someone was planning a break-in because he found broken glass under his security camera in his driveway and backyard, Monday.
