Jefferson County Drug Task Force
Raid, arrests: Three people were taken into custody after officers from the Jefferson County Drug Task Force searched a property at 423 N. Seventh St., Steubenville, Tuesday. Deana Gentile, 39, of Wintersville was charged with felony possession of drugs, Task Force Capt. John Lemal reported. Also booked were Cinque Reed, 42, of Steubenville, warrant for domestic violence, and Ryann Geary 32, of Steubenville, parole violation. A fourth, unidentified individual is being sought in connection with the investigation, he said. Roughly 13 grams of a crack cocaine/fentanyl mix, drug paraphernalia and drug ledgers allegedly were seized from the home, authorities said. Joining in the search were sheriff's deputies, city police and prosecutors.

Charged: Three men were charged after callers reported seeing them trying to steal a handicap parking sign in the 1500 block of Ridge Avenue, Sunday. Charged were: Aiden Gibbons, 22, 1235 University Blvd., obstruction and intoxication; David Michael Boyle, 18, also of 1235 University Boulevard, obstruction; and Kian McCormick, 22, 1530 Ridge Ave., Steubenville, criminal mischief. Police said a fourth individual admitted "he was there for both thefts but had no part in any of it" and was not charged. A witness said when he confronted the four men they fled, taking refuge in McCormack's house. Police attempted to question the occupants but said one of them shut the door in their face when they realized police were on the porch. Police said Boyle was apprehended trying to flee the residence, while Gibbons was found on his back in a vacant lot in the 1500 block of Euclid wearing shorts and a T-shirt, with his mouth bloodied and reeking of alcohol. He refused medical treatment, but police said he told them he'd been at a friend's house and ran out the back door when officers knocked onthe front door. In Monday court appearances, Gibbons and Boyles were ordered to complete 18 hours of community service and stay out of trouble. They're scheduled to report back to Municipal Court May 5. Police said McCormack later told them it was his house and admitted he'd removed the handicapped sign and asked Boyle to help him carry it. They said he also told them he had a stop sign in his house that he'd taken from a Franciscan University parking lot. He pleaded no contest before Municipal Court Judge John Mascio Tuesday and also was ordered to complete 18 hours of community service before his next appearance, set for May 5.
Found: A downtown resident ended up in police custody after "numerous needles, baggies and paraphernalia" were allegedly found in his apartment, Tuesday. Brian C. Wright, 40, 815 N. Sixth St., Apt. 814, Steubenville, was booked for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a drug abuse instrument. JMHA security told police a crew sent to repair Wright's broken toilet reported the paraphernalia was left in plain view. The contraband, which included a syringe believed loaded with fentanyl, were seized.
Booked: One man was arrested and a gun seized after police responded to a fight call at a downtown gas station, Tuesday. Shamoray W. L. Johnson, 22, 484 S. Sixth St., Steubenville, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, obstruction and tampering with evidence, police said.
Nitpicking: Neighbors complained a woman in the 900 block of Sherman Avenue was playing her radio too loud, Tuesday. She turned it down when they informed her of the complaint; A neighbor also complained of a loud radio in the 2600 block of Sunset Boulevard, but police said the resident, who had been asleep, only had his television on and "it was being played at a low level."
