Smear campaign: A Rayland man found feces smeared in and on two vehicles and blamed his neighbor's girlfriend, Monday. The man said the windshield and door handle of one vehicle, and on the door handle and drivers' seat of the other had been defaced and suggested it was related to a weekend incident involving his neighbor. Deputies spoke with the neighbor's girlfriend, who told them she "had no idea what (they) were referring to" and said she thought they were there to talk about the weekend incident that resulted in her boyfriend's arrest. She said there have been ongoing incidents between the two men for the past year and said the neighbor "drinks heavily and will … shout obscenities over the fence at (them) while intoxicated and will "make threats while her grandchildren are in the yard." She was advised how to obtain a protection order if she feels unsafe and also to record any future threats, without responding to them, and call 911. Deputies said that as they were speaking with the woman, the neighbor drove past her home and shouted, "I know it was you."

He said he stopped a white Razor and the driver refused to give him his name, becoming belligerent and threatening to come to his house. The neighbors said he is the problem, telling police he initiates the interactions between the houses, calls them names and harasses them. Both parties were told to cease all contact.
Tired act: A Cedar Avenue resident said her neighbor keeps putting an old tire in her yard, Monday.
