Jefferson County Sheriff

Doggone it: Deputies were asked to check on the welfare of two children allegedly living in deplorable conditions in the Mingo Junction area, but the children weren't even living there, Tuesday. There were "numerous garbage bags and trash" in the backyard, but deputies said their father told police that even though he has running water, sewer service and electricity, the children are staying with another family member. Two family members who don't live there confirmed the children are living elsewhere while he tries to clean the place up after an individual he'd let stay in his home finally took his nine dogs and moved out. He said he forced the individual to leave because the dogs were destroying his home and thinks that person called the sheriff's department to file a false report out of spite. Deputies noted there was dog "feces everywhere" in the basement and the house was destroyed.

Fraud: A Mount Pleasant woman reported someone used her debit card at a Papa John's in Indiana, Tuesday. She said when she called her bank to dispute the charges, she learned there were additional transactions pending for Transunion, Google and in Costa Rico.

Drugs: Toronto EMS administered two doses of Narcan to an individual reported to be overdosing, Tuesday. Deputies said there were no drugs or drug paraphernalia at the scene and the individual was taken to the hospital for treatment.
