Steubenville Police
Charged: Police said they caught a man hiding in a closet in a vacant house in the 700 block of Highland Avenue with a loaded handgun and a small amount of fentanyl, Tuesday. Lance Temple, 42, 523 N. Fifth St., Steubenville, was charged with trespassing, weapons under disability, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs, they said. Police had received complaints of individuals being in what was supposed to be a vacant residence.
Mending fences: A woman shopping at a midtown store told police her child's father refused to leave her alone, Tuesday. She told police they'd been arguing all day and she wanted to stay with a friend in Mingo Junction, but the man asked her "if she would accompany him home and she decided to do so." Police said they left on a city bus.
Drugs: Police said a woman in the 900 block of Sheffield Avenue was treated for a suspected overdose, Tuesday. When police arrived Steubenville firefighters/EMS had already administered Narcan but she was still "very lethargic and lacked the ability to communicate." Her father said he found her on her back, "unresponsive and snoring as if struggling to breathe" and told police since he'd allowed her back in his house he'd been "finding paraphernalia throughout the house." EMS said they'd revived her with 6 mg of Narcan, some of it through an IV. She claimed she was just dehydrated and denied using drugs, but police police issued her a drug overdose treatment form "due to the effectiveness of the Narcan and knowledge of her consistent and documented drug use."
Panhandling prohibited: A Mall Drive business complained of a man panhandling in front of their store, Tuesday. Police found him on his back on the sidewalk near the entrance to the store, eating. He was advised the business no longer wanted him on their property, so he gathered his belongings and left. He was advised to stop loitering at businesses and bothering patrons.
Phone fighting: A disturbance was reported in the 400 block of South Fifth Street, Tuesday. Police spoke with the occupants, who said they'd been talking loudly. The female said she'd been arguing with her mother over the phone. They said they didn't need any help.
Fraud: A Weirton man said two fraudulent charges were made on his debit card after he lost it at a Sunset Boulevard bank, Tuesday. He said the thief made a $110 purchase at Kroger and a $67 purchase at Hibbett's before he put a block on it.
Served: Kristin Williams, 33, South Fifth St., Wintersville, bench warrant out of Steubenville Municipal Court, Tuesday.
Cited: the owner of a silver Ford Fusion blocking a driveway in the 1600 block of Oregon Avenue was ticketed for blocking a driveway and the vehicle was towed.
