Not listening: A man wouldn't get out of his girlfriend's car in the 100 block of South Third Street when she asked him to, Tuesday. His girlfriend said they were arguing, and she'd asked him to get out "and he was refusing." Her boyfriend said he "didn't have the opportunity to exit the vehicle" and believed it was just a minor argument and "(she) didn't really want him to get out." When police advised him to exit the vehicle, he left on foot.
Cried wolf: A woman in the 1300 block of Oregon Avenue told police her ex "was spitting on her and threatening her," but by the time police arrived she'd changed her mind about talking to them, Tuesday. Police said they heard the couple arguing as they approached the door but when they knocked no one answered. An officer recognized the male, who told them "he refused to answer the door because he was not the one who contacted the police." A juvenile leaving the property told police everything was fine and their help wasn't needed, the male he told them "everything was fine" and the disagreement was strictly verbal and said the woman "was speaking to (them) from inside the residence but refused to show herself," and then "began yelling and stated she would not do what we requested and to leave her property," so they did but had to return six hours later after she called again. This time, she told them "everything was OK and (he) had left the residence for the night."
Hit, skipped and threatened: A downtown resident told police she was struck in the face by her child's father, Wednesday. She had a small red mark on her face with some swelling. She said before he left, he told her not to call the police.
Forgetful: Police had to track down a man loitering in a Sunset Boulevard parking lot and refusing to leave, Tuesday. They reminded him he is not welcome on the property and if he returns, "he may be subject to arrest."
Scrappers: A caller reported two juveniles playing in a vacant lot in the 1100 block of Oak Grove Avenue got in a fight, Tuesday. One of the kids pulled the other's hair and got slapped in return, they said. Parents of both kids were on scene and said they'd keep the kids away from one another for the rest of the night.
Called: An employee at a Hollywood Plaza business complained that a man was panhandling in front of the store "even after being told ... to move away," Tuesday. Police caught up to him and said he "agreed to stay away...in the future."
Accident: A driver whose car left the roadway and ended up on the sidewalk on Sunset Boulevard near Homewood Avenue told police she hydroplaned, Tuesday. Police said yaw markings in the curb lane and on the curb were consistent with her explanation of how her car left the roadway and said a "small chunk of tire" was missing from the rear driver side tire wall and the rim was scratched.
Door knockers: Police were told juveniles in the 100 block of Cunningham Lane were knocking on doors, Tuesday. They checked the neighborhood but didn't find any children.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 1400 Maryland Ave., high grass and weeds, and 1300 Wellesley Ave., items stored on front porch as well as the back yard.
