Steubenville Police
Grudge calls: A city resident said she has been receiving harassing phone calls, Wednesday. She told police the number comes up private "but she believes she knows who is calling" and said she's been having problems with a female "concerning a man they were both seeing." She said she ended the relationship with him "but the calls continue."
Bad behavior: A man pulled up in front of Harding Stadium in a pickup truck with his radio "blaring extremely loud music" and, with it still playing, walked to the edge of the bleachers and began interacting with a soccer player, Tuesday. A school official said when he made contact with the man he "was hostile and began swearing at him," threatening to assault him. He said at one point the man took his shirt off and threatened to beat him up before finally leaving.
Poking the bear: Callers complained of a loud radio in the 200 block of Hollywood Boulevard, Tuesday. Police located the offender sitting in a dark-colored truck in a driveway, and when they explained why they were there and handed him a copy of the ordinance he chose not to identify himself and demanded a supervisor. When the supervisor arrived, he told the man if another complaint came in and they had to return he'd be arrested. Police said the man "then drove in circles around the block with his music at full volume as he drove slowly past."
Juvenile behavior: Employees say a group of underage males who used to come into a Sunset Boulevard vape store with their parents are now trying to make purchases without them, Tuesday. The employee said when he asked for IDs they were hesitant "and attempted to pressure him into selling restricted items," then went to their car to "get their IDs" before leaving. Since then, he said the store has been receiving harassing phone calls, cursing and threatening employees. He said they also "continue to come into the store without their parents and harass employees, (refusing) to leave."
Troublesome: A city resident was taken into custody after he took a family member's car without permission, Tuesday. Police said Steven S. West, 34, 4097 Stratford Blvd., was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and given an eight-hour intoxication hold. Family members allege West was "highly intoxicated" and badgered them to drive him somewhere, and when they refused, he grabbed the cars keys and drove himself. They said the last time he took the car without permission "he ended up crashing (it) in a hit-and-run accident." Police checked the lot where he'd told them he wanted to go but didn't find him. He returned to the residence a short time later, and when officers talked to him, they said "he appeared highly intoxicated, drooling, slurring his words and having difficulty standing on his own." They said he denied taking or driving the vehicle but noted the keys were lying next to his cell phone on the floor in the hallway.
Caught: A city resident was taken into custody on multiple charges after police spotted her with a friend and realized she had an outstanding warrant, Wednesday. Police said Vanessa N. Rose, 37, 992 Sherman Ave., was booked into the Jefferson County jail on charges of cruelty to animals, failure to appear, felony possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. They allege Rose tried to pass her purse to her friend when they approached, and when they checked it claim they found two burned glass crack pipes and a white rock-like substance believed to be cocaine.
Charged: A driver and her passenger were booked after a traffic stop on Market and Third streets, Tuesday. Samantha Jo Cremeans, 28, 832 South St., Steubenville, was charged with possession of a drug abuse instrument and felony possession of drugs and also served with a bench warrant, police said. Her passenger, Ryan E. Geary, 33, 180 N. Fourth St., Apt. 413, Steubenville, also was charged with felony possession of drugs, they said. Police allege Cremeans tried to conceal a hypodermic needle in her pants and eventually claimed ownership of a container with a white rock-like substance she said contained crack. Police said Geary was charged after a bag containing methamphetamine base was found where he was sitting, though he denied it belonged to him and Cremeans initially said "multiple people" had used her vehicle earlier, then told them she'd picked up a man from West Virginia and the bag must have been his before finally telling them it "was not hers but she would take ownership."
Buttoned up: A domestic was reported in the 400 block of Dresden Avenue and police said a woman involved in it refused to identify the man involved, Tuesday. She told police they'd been drinking and after they started arguing, he threw a lamp and then left. After telling the officer she didn't want to pursue charges he said she "stopped speaking with me."
Messages: A city resident said he's being harassed by someone he knows, Wednesday. He told police the individual "has been sending him text messages stating that he is going to assault him." He said it's been a recurring problem.
Stolen: A South Bend Boulevard resident said someone stole her child's bicycle, Wednesday. She said it was lime green with black rear pegs and a black seat with a skull design on it that she paid $138 for.
Taken: A North Sixth Street resident said she and her family returned home to find her front door unlocked and partially open, Tuesday. She told officers she was sure the door was closed when they left. A "banking bottle" containing about $65 was missing, she said.
Cited: Terry J. Peterson, 61, 817 Rinker Road, driving under suspension and failure to yield on a left turn following a two-vehicle accident Tuesday in the 3900 block of Sunset Boulevard. Peterson allegedly tried to make a left turn out of a parking lot and collided with another vehicle. The other driver said he followed Peterson home, then "gathered his information" before contacting police. Peterson said he was "unaware that he was involved in an accident" until the other driver followed him home, police noted.

Miller, 30, 703 Rosswell Ave., Steubenville, driving under suspension and speeding; the owner of a vehicle parked in the downtown business district was cited for parking on a yellow line.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 617 N. Fifth St., 1324 Wellesley Ave., 146 Martha Place and 1507 Foster Place, all for high grass/weeds.

Drugs: A man overdosed at a residence near Toronto, Saturday. Deputies arrived at the home first and performed a sternum rub that revived the man, then EMS arrived and took over. An individual who was present told deputies he'd been "using fentanyl lately and he snorts it,' and deputies said they did locate a homemade snort straw.
Got her goat: A Richmond resident reported a neighbor's goat is "constantly getting loose and causing damage on her and her neighbor's property," Sunday. Deputies spoke with the goat's owner and told her she needs to keep her goats secured or she could face charges.
Loaded up: A Michigan man was booked into the county jail on multiple charges after deputies allegedly caught him driving under the influence, Tuesday. Deputies said Titus W. Fairlamb, 22, of Benzonia was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of THC vape liquid, possession of a Schedule II narcotic and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle after a traffic stop near U.S. Route 22 and state Route 7. Deputies claim Fairlamb "had glassy, blood-shot eyes and dilated pupils" and admitted smoking marijuana a few hours before in Michigan, and reported finding two plastic bags containing an ounce of marijuana buds, tubes containing one-gram vials of THC vape oils and a Michigan sales receipt for the items, along with a handgun with a fully loaded magazine, an amphetamine pill and a waxy substance believed to be THC rolled up inside some tinfoil.
