Throwing stones: A West Boulevard resident told police she got into a verbal argument with her ex-boyfriend Oct. 9, after which she refused to drive him home and told him to find his own ride. The woman said her ex-boyfriend then threw a rock at her vehicle and threatened to burn her house down. She said she had already reported the incident to Steubenville police and wanted a case on file in Mingo.

Road rage: A woman said she was turning from Commercial Avenue when a black Kia sped up to her vehicle, went over the center line and drove in front of her vehicle Wednesday. The other vehicle then brake-checked her twice before going up McLister. The woman changed onto Woodland Avenue to avoid the situation but later found the vehicle behind her again. The man in the vehicle allegedly began making rude gestures and drove in front of her again, yelling out his window. When the two vehicles came to a stop sign, the woman said, the man reached for something. Police later did a check on the provided license plate number and made contact with a woman who said the vehicle belonged to her ex-husband, who had been at the house that morning but left earlier. The woman said her ex-husband did not own any firearms, and police Charged: Danielle M. Sproull, 40, 225 Clifton Ave., failure to appear (warrant, District 3), Oct. 2.

That’s nuts: Police responded to the 800 block of North Sixth Street after someone spotted a small child “on the roof of the apartment building,” Saturday. When they spoke to the child he said his mother said it was OK for him to be there, then crawled back inside through a window. The mother told them her child “frequently plays up there and that he was OK,” but police told her “he is not permitted to play on the roof of the building as it is extremely dangerous and he could fall off.” They also told the juvenile he is not permitted on the roof.

Hot and cold: A South Fifth Street resident told police a man was pounding on her door, Saturday. The man told police she’d invited him to her home to visit with their children and he spent the night, but they’d gotten into an argument that morning and he went outside to cool off. When he tried to go back inside to gather his belongings she’d locked him out. Police said Dakota M. Egnew, 26, 434 S. Fifth St., Steubenville, was issued a summons for criminal trespass because he’d previously been banned from all JMHA properties.

Phoned it in: Police were asked to assist a man who wanted to retrieve his girlfriend’s phone from a vacant property in the 500 block of North Fifth Street, Saturday. He said he’d used the find my iPhone app to trace the phone to the residence, which was vacant. Police cleared the property to make sure no one was inside who shouldn’t be, but when the man refused to identify himself for their records he was told they were locking the door and couldn’t help him. They said the man “became upset” but still refused to identify himself, and said they smelled alcohol on him when they told him he had to leave the property.

Problematic: A city resident ended up with multiple charges after he was allegedly seen driving the wrong way on a one-way street, Saturday. Police said Brett Isler, 28, 4085 Stratford Blvd., was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence, driving under suspension, a one-way street violation and misdemeanor possession of marijuana after he repeatedly ignored their instructions, at one point allegedly telling an officer who warned him he was going to be arrested if he didn’t do what he was told that “you’ll have to catch me first” and then started running. Once in custody they said Isler requested medical attention and was taken to the hospital, but he allegedly caused a disturbance there as well as at the county jail, where he allegedly started yelling and threw himself on the floor, refusing to move.

Two-fer-one: A domestic was reported in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, Sunday. Police said they arrived in time to see the pair shoving each other as the male tried to enter the residence. The female told police they started arguing and the male “grabbed her by the throat and threw her on the bed,” then started choking her. Police noted she had redness on her neck and a cut on her finger and said she told them she wanted to pursue charges “just to get him out of the residence.” The male had scratches on his neck and redness on his chest and told police “they were doing drugs and drinking and an argument ensued” and said she’d choked him, too. Police said Angel Santiago, no age listed, and Shelley Cable, no age listed, both of 180 N. Fourth St., Apt. 508, were booked into the county jail on domestic violence charges.

Good teacher: An Adams Street resident said someone entered his locked apartment in a secure building and stole his smart TV, Friday. He said he’s had ongoing issues with a neighbor he’d previously shown how he could “use a card to enter his apartment.”

Nuisance call: Someone asked police to check on the welfare of an Oakmont Avenue residence, claiming she’d talked about harming herself, but the woman said she never said anything of the sort, Friday. She told police she’s been having ongoing issues with a man who “is upset that she will not respond to his messages.”

Child’s play: A Parkview Circle resident told police seven people, one of them a female, “attempted to kick in her back door,” Friday. She said she was inside his home when she heard someone trying to break in, so she went outside and spotted the group “hiding behind a tree.” She said they fled in two pickups when she told them she’d called police and told officers it’s not the first time it’s happened. Another officer caught up to the miscreants, who turned out to be juveniles, at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Welday Avenue.

False alarm: Someone reported a “subject on the porch” of a Crabbe Boulevard resident holding a knife and threatening people, Saturday. They went to the residence but the homeowner advised she had not called police and everything was fine.
