Suspicious minds: A Wilson Avenue resident said her neighbor asked for her help carrying things into her house, but when she went inside, the woman's dog bit her, Thursday. She said the bite was hurting so she went to Express Care to have it treated and found out it was infected and thinks her neighbor "knew the dog would bite her and that was why she had her enter the residence first."

Fingers flying: A motorist said he pulled into the police parking lot and called for help because another driver had followed him across the Veterans Memorial Bridge, "honking (his) horn and following him very closely," Thursday. The other driver told police the caller "made an obscene gesture to him so he was following him to ask him why."

Callers reported someone had pitched a tent across from a business at the Fort Steuben Mall, Saturday. The man living in it told them he was "from out of state and homeless, and just set up camp" earlier in the day. Police told him he couldn't stay where he was at because it was private property, so he packed up and moved on.

Picking fights: Callers reported an active fight outside of a downtown business, Thursday. Officers arrived in time to see one of the men trying to punch the other, who told them the puncher "had been harassing him on social media," and when they ran into each other that day an argument ensued, but he told police no punches had been thrown and he didn't want to pursue charges. A witness said the victim kept trying to walk away "but (the aggressive man) and his girlfriend kept yelling profanities and ... slurs."

Curtain call: Police were asked to check on the occupants of a car parked in the Lowe's lot, Friday. Callers reported the vehicle had curtains in the window and had been parked there for several hours, but the occupants told police they were sleeping. Police said the couple left the area without incident.

Angry ex: A Broadway Boulevard property owner told police someone kicked in his door to gain entry into his home, pushing a pool table out of the way, Thursday. He said it was likely the work of his ex girlfriend and an accomplice, telling police she'd messaged him that "he should be prepared to replace a window or door soon." He said she wanted to gather her things but when he told her she'd have to wait until he could be there, "she became upset." He was able to show police the text messages.
