The nurse said he walked up behind her and grabbed her by the throat and started squeezing and also pushed her against a counter. She told police she nearly passed out before other employees were able to wrestle him to the ground. Her alleged assailant was at the hospital to be treated for pneumonia, but he "also seemed to be hearing voices" and "made some reference to the world ending," police were told. The nurse had scratches, bruises and redness around her throat, and one of the men who came to her rescue had bite marks on his hand.

Wishful thinking: A man told deputies he feared a female family member was being held against her will at a Richmond home, Dec. 29. He said she'd gone to the residence "a few days ago" to use the internet and "has yet to come home." The caller said he and her husband have gone to the property in the past to retrieve her and complained the male who lives there "has been known to be violent and has a history of (abusing) women." Deputies caught up to to the woman, who told them she was fine and doesn't need help.
Neglect, theft alleged: A man now living with his daughter in the Bloomingdale area told deputies he wants to file charges against his son for withdrawing more than $31,000 from his bank account without his permission, Dec. 31. He said one of his cars is missing and his tried to get the titles to all of his vehicles transferred into his name. He said he'd given his son medical power of attorney as a precaution when he was diagnosed with cancer and unsure about his future but he's in remission now. After his last stay at a rehab center following a fall, he wanted to try and stay in his home, several houses away from his son, and family members said when they'd call the son to find out how he was doing he'd say fine, but when they went there to see for himself say they found him on the floor unable to pick himself up, get to the restroom or access his medications and had a sore on his foot due to untreated diabetes. They said some of his medicines were missing as well and conditions in the home were deplorable. The father told deputies he's unable to live on his own anymore and when his daughter offered to move him into her home said he "gladly accepted," telling deputies he's very happy to be living with his daughter.
Gun discharged: A Dillonvale man told deputies his daughter fired a warning shot in his direction because he turned his wireless connection off, Dec. 30. He said he turned his internet connection off because he thought she'd hidden his car keys, and said when he did she pointed the gun at him and told him, "Try me," before firing. Deputies said the bullet travelled through his front door and lodged in the console in his car. The homeowner didn't want to pursue charges.
Over the top: A woman returned to a Steubenville-area residence after a domestic disturbance two days earlier to find her car trashed and the locks to the residence changed, Dec. 30. Deputies said three of her tires were punctured, the windows were shattered, her side mirror broken off and her headlights and taillights were broken. Both of them were intoxicated during the original incident, deputies said. She said he'd pushed her out the door and she'd landed in a rock garden, and deputies reported her clothes were dirt stained, her ribs were red and she had abrasions on her palm. The male called her "crazy" and said he'd pushed her out the door because she refused to leave his residence after his son and his son's friend claimed they caught her talking to her ex.
Charged: A Mingo Junction woman said her boyfriend "woke up aggressive and looking to fight her," Sunday. She said he tried to keep her from leaving and when she tried to pull away he hit her in the face, breaking her glasses, so she hit him back and he retaliated by hitting her with his cell phone, leaving her with a black eye. She told deputies she doesn't want to pursue charges because the two of them have been arrested before and he has a habit of putting marks on himself and claims she assaulted him. Jenna R. Ross, 28, 124 Madison Ave., Apt. 2, Mingo Junction and Rome K. Edgar, 30, Barnesville, were each charged by village police with domestic violence, deputies said.
