Charges filed: Deputies tracking a driver who fled a traffic stop ended up taking a Dillonvale man into custody, Friday. Terry Lee Herring, 44, 381 county Road 20, Dillonvale, was charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer and served with a warrant for felony domestic violence after deputies said they found him hiding under a pile of clothes in a closet in a house on county Road 8. Deputies claim Herring was at the wheel of a BMW 745i that fled a traffic stop, allegedly traveling across county Roads 15 and 15A and state Route 150 at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Deputies terminated the pursuit but circled back to a residence on county Road 8 where they'd seen the vehicle in the past and said they found it there about 15 minutes later. Deputies said the license plate had been removed but they identified the vehicle as the one they'd chased. A female who answered the door at the residence initially declined to let them look inside her home, claiming she'd been home all day and no one else had been there and told them she knew the owner but wasn't sure why the car was parked at her home. The woman eventually consented to a search and once inside deputies said they spotted the BMW keys in a bedroom next to a phone on a basket, and as they moved it report say they saw Herring hiding under clothes in the back of the closet. Deputies said he told them he was hiding because he knew there were warrants out for his arrest and denied driving the vehicle, claiming it had been behind the house all night. They also said he told them the BMW didn't have a license plate because he'd just purchased it, but deputies said they found the license plate hidden under a mattress. In addition to the criminal charges, Herring was cited for driving under suspension, speeding (100 mph in a 55 mph zone), changing lanes without caution, a marked lane violation, and a stop sign violation.
Guest begone: A Smithfield woman said a houseguest assaulted her husband, bloodying his nose after he asked the man to leave, Monday. She said her husband originally told the man stay he could stay a few days, but he'd moved all his possessions to their house and shed and he was showing no signs of leaving after a couple of weeks. She and her husband went to a family party and when they returned home discovered he'd locked the door, and they weren't able to get in until she remembered she had a key. She said the houseguest didn't take the news well when her husband told him it was time to move on.
Living in fear: A Mount Pleasant woman said a family member who has been living with her is stealing her medications and selling them, Saturday. She said he's also threatened to harm her and burn her house down.
At risk: A caller was concerned for an intoxicated woman lying on the side of the road in Bloomingdale, Friday. When deputies arrived at the scene she'd left that spot but they were concerned for her welfare due to the cold weather, so they searched the area, locating her a block away and stumbling. She initially refused to identify herself, but eventually relented and deputies were able to contact a family member who agreed to watch over her for the rest of the night.
Charged: Matthew Randall Bishop, 18, 5654 county Road 6, Adena, domestic violence and underage consumption, Monday. Family members said Bishop "came home drunk and started breaking things," including a TV and PlayStation. Deputies also reported seeing holes in walls and said they heard him threatening his family. Deputies claimed Bishop told them he'd been drinking since 11 at his girlfriend's house.
Why stay: A Toronto woman said her boyfriend punched her, Saturday. She said he'd been drinking and first punched himself, telling deputies he tends to do that when he indulges in alcohol. She said after that he punched her in the face, which he also does from time to time. She didn't want to pursue charges because him staying sober was a condition of his probation. After deputies arrived, he'd fled on foot and couldn't be located.
Space invaded: A Woodmont Avenue resident told deputies someone has been in his apartment, Tuesday. He said he was sure someone had entered his home, telling deputies the person turned his space heater on and took some cold medication.
Wrong house: A Steubenville-area resident said a package meant for him was delivered to the wrong house on his street, Sunday. He said when he approached the other household, they told him they didn't have it. Deputies determined the caller's son, who is in the military, addressed it to the wrong house.
Fraud: A Wintersville man discovered his identity had been stolen when he received a letter from a bank notifying him an account had been opened in his name, Sunday. Deputies were told he wasn't out any money, but the bank had deposited $200 into the already overdrawn account.
Report: A Wintersville resident reported hearing what sounded like shots fired, Saturday. She thought a neighbor with whom she's had ongoing issues was responsible.
Problematic: A Cadiz Road resident said her son was intoxicated and causing a disturbance, Monday. Deputies said he was "obviously" under the influence of some type of drug.
Dispute: A woman arguing with her boyfriend at his Steubenville-area residence said she was packing her things to leave, and he started to search them, then refused to let her get her medications, Friday. He said he'd spotted his Social Security card and some other personal items in the bag and wanted to search the other one to make sure he got everything. He said he refused to let her take her medication in hopes she'd give him his things back.
Loud: A Wintersville resident said someone visiting his neighbor was playing his car radio very loudly, and when he asked the man to move it the neighbors came out and yelled at him, Friday.
Aversion to housework: A Mingo Junction woman said her 13-year-old son ran out of the house because he didn't want to dust, Monday.
Theft: A break-in was reported at a Mingo Junction residence, Sunday. Several radiator heaters, a hand-made wooden crossbow, scrap and a heavy metal plant stand were stolen sometime in the past three weeks, deputies said. Neighbors reported seeing a pickup at the property several weeks ago.
Reported: A man told deputies his fiance's mother was "throwing away and destroying their belongings," Sunday. He said she'd told them last month they could return to get the items at a later date, but since then his fiance has been getting "aggressive threats" against him from family members.
Walked away: Deputies located the owner of a black Nissan Rouge parked in an alley in Adena for a week, Saturday. She told them she wasn't moving it "and the bank could deal with it." There was damage to the vehicle the woman said was caused by a deer.
Dispute: A Rayland woman said her boyfriend showed up at her apartment intoxicated, Monday. She told deputies they'd been arguing about him cheating on her and she just wanted him to leave, so the boyfriend agreed to go to his mother's house.
Theft: A Yorkville woman said she had footage of a man known to her stealing a pair of sandals from her porch, Monday.
Booked: Ryan Michael Zullo, 37, 36 King Drive, Steubenville, domestic violence.
Cited: Matthew Gray, 421 Rockdale Road, Follansbee, driving with no license.

Questions: A caller was concerned for a woman who showed up at Circle K with her face bleeding, Monday. Police talked with the injured woman as well as a male who said she'd been staying at his McKinley Avenue residence "and he no longer wished for (her) to stay there." He said when he told her to leave, she began to yell, "then left the residence shoeless and in shorts and began to walk" toward the gas station. The injured woman told police she had a previous injury to her face "that began bleeding while she was walking." She refused medical attention and said she only wanted to leave. Police took her to the residence to gather a few of her belongings but the male wouldn't answer the door.
Long commute: Someone reported seeing a man lying on the hillside on John Scott Highway extension, Tuesday. Police said the man told them he was walking from Weirton to his job in Wintersville "and was just taking a breather," Tuesday. He said everything was OK.
Pit stop: Employees at a business on Mall Drive said an "unwanted male" was in the store, Tuesday. Police located him in the parking lot, and he told them he "needed to use the bathroom for an emergency." He was advised he was not allowed in the business again.
Recognized: Wal-Mart employees spotted a man in the store believed to have been involved in multiple thefts, Tuesday. They located the male, who was detained for investigation and identified. After speaking with him they said he was "thanked for his cooperation and sent on his way." Police said the investigation is continuing.
Swerved: A woman at the wheel of a pickup truck said an oncoming vehicle drifted into her lane, causing her to strike the guardrail to avoid a collision, Monday. Police said the woman showed no sign of impairment.
Overstayed: A Pennsylvania Avenue woman wanted a woman removed from her home, Monday. She said the woman had only been there a few days, but the woman she wanted removed said she and her kids had been there several weeks. Police told the homeowner she'd need to file for eviction.
False alarm: A woman told police she thinks her elderly mother is being abused, but when they talked to her mother she said she's fine and they said she showed no signs of abuse.
Popping up: A Market Street resident said her ex-boyfriend "continues to show up at her residence," Tuesday. He was gone when police arrived but while they were talking to the female he showed up and said he wanted to retrieve his things while they were there. Once he was done he was told he's no longer welcome at the residence.

Charged: Shad L. Green, 54, Haslet, Texas, misdemeanor theft.
