Steubenville Police

Charges filed: A resident in the 400 block of South Sixth Street told police she'd been assaulted in her home by an intoxicated family member, Wednesday. She said the two of them had argued about a male being inside the apartment and said after she went to her room, the other woman "walked upstairs and struck her in the side of the head," then fled the scene. She said two small children who were present tried to break up the fight, "causing one of (them) to hit their head off the wall." She was bleeding from the ear and requested medical attention but told police she didn't want to file charges but a few minutes later asked police to return because the other woman had returned to the apartment "and began throwing objects and causing a disturbance." She again declined to prosecute but police charged Aaliyah Minnifield, 18, 446 S. Sixth Street, Steubenville, with underage consumption and domestic violence, reporting she was "obviously intoxicated" when they spoke with her and was unable to say what had taken place or why she left the residence.

Charges: Neighbors reported hearing shouting and glass breaking at a Maryland Avenue residence, Wednesday. Police said a male was "visibly intoxicated" and told them "he was drunk and high" and had argued with his girlfriend, who said the disagreement was strictly verbal. Before she was taken into custody on an Ohio Parole Office warrant for a parole violation, Melisa M. Buhles, 35, 1516 Maryland Ave., Apt. 1, told police she wasn't afraid of him and he was "just intoxicated." Her boyfriend was advised to go inside and sleep it off, but he was taken into custody minutes later after police said a hit-skip involving two cars parked in the 1500 block of Ridge Avenue led them to his door. Police said Robert Hines, 31, also of 1516 Maryland Ave., Apt. 1, booked into the county jail on charges of hit skip, failure to control and operating a vehicle while under the influence. They said Hines was bleeding from his mouth when he came to the door, was slurring his words and unsteady on his feet, and that he told them "he had no clue how the damage happened." They said Hines' vehicle had "heavy damage on the passenger front." Buhles is being held without bond pending extradition, police said.

Booted: A man in the 100 block of North Sixth Street told police he hugged a woman, and a male who used to date her hit him, Wednesday. He said the man punched him in the face twice with a closed fist. The other man denied assaulting him, though police said it was witnessed by an employee who then banned from the property.

Time to go: A Maryland Avenue resident wanted her sister removed from her home, Wednesday. She told police her sister was angry "and ...kicked her front door, causing some damage." Police said the sister had already left when they arrived.

Out of luck: A woman in the 700 block of North Seventh Street reported a disturbance involving a neighbor, Wednesday. The neighbor claims she owes him money, but police told him he'd have to pursue the matter in court.

Complaint: A Market Street resident said someone opened a Capital One credit card in her name, Wednesday. She said two bottles of Ibuprofen and 30 Gabapentin pills were stolen from her apartment along with a $21.70 check that had been in her mailbox.

Booked: Austin Hoose, 27, 180 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, failure to appear, Wednesday.
