Jefferson County Sheriff
On the move: A woman in Dillonvale said her boyfriend was "throwing her property out in the yard," Saturday. The couple said they were arguing because her boyfriend wanted her to leave the residence but nothing physical had taken place. She said she would gather some of her things and leave for the time being and already has another residence lined up. Her boyfriend advised her to call before she came back for the rest.
Smart move: An Amsterdam man asked deputies to stand by while he moved his things out of the home he shared with his live-in girlfriend, Jan. 3. He said he'd made a hand gesture "when he said he was done" that she took offense to and "was saying he threatened her." He said he wanted to move the rest of his things out "so that no more issues arise."
Walk off: A Mingo Junction woman reported a disturbance in her home, Saturday. She said she and her live-in boyfriend had been arguing and he "choked her and squeezed her face," and deputies said she had red marks on her neck consistent with being choked. Her live-in said they haven't been getting along and were arguing, but he couldn't remember why. He said he tried to leave but she smacked him in the face, so he defended himself. Deputies said he did have a scratch on his back. When they questioned the girlfriend, she said he "started screaming in her face which startled her and she smacked him in the face," then he pushed her against a dresser. When she fell onto the bed, she said he squeezed her face and then "put his hands around her throat," telling deputies she might have scratched him. Neither of them wanted to pursue charges. The male agreed to leave for the night.
Problem number: A Bloomingdale woman who just got a new phone and phone number said she got a call from an unknown female asking why she had her son's watch, Friday. She said she tried to explain she just bought the phone, and the number was just assigned to her but the woman hung up, then sent her a nasty text saying, "I'm tracking this watch, bet I am on my way." Deputies told her to lock her doors and call if anyone showed up.
Cited: Christopher James Stevens, 24, 3138 Orchard St., Weirton, driving on a suspended license and expired plates. Additional charges pending (possession of drug paraphernalia after deputies found a bag with a white powder residue believed to be cocaine and a snort straw.)
Steubenville Police
Gravy train: A North Sixth Street resident told police her neighbor is harassing her, Sunday. She said the woman "has been calling her several times a day asking her for money," and comes to her residence "at all hours of the day and ask for money." Police told her to block the number and obtain a protection order.
Incident: An Oregon Avenue resident reported someone appeared to try to enter her garage, Saturday. Surveillance video showed two hooded individuals messing with her padlock and then spray painting her door before running fleeing on foot.
